Most the shit on this sub is stupid, but I have to admit this one gave me a chuckle, even if it is a little mischaracterizing Linux.

Edit: also, guitar hero basically already does exist on Linux (and Windows and Mac) it's called Clone Hero

Clone Hero?

Frets On Fire if I may!

Looking through this sub as a Linux fan is like looking through any other post on Lemmy as a Windows user.

[-] SatyrSack@feddit.org 4 points 2 weeks ago

Like most jokes here, this one is just very outdated. I have literally never had to compile a package myself.

[-] ruckblack@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I honestly can't tell if this place is a joke, it seems like literally one or two users with serious hate boners for Linux lmao. The vast, vast majority of posts are posted by OP here.

[-] Aphelion@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago

OP is also the sole community mod and has been very busy banning people and deleting comments.

[-] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 weeks ago

It's a joke... But okay, let's talk about Linux, I guess.

[-] Aphelion@lemm.ee 2 points 2 weeks ago

The OP is also the mod and sole poster of this community, and they really enjoy deleting comments and banning people.

[-] mayo@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago

How seriously does this community hate linux? Is this a fun place or an angry place?

[-] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 weeks ago

I just found it, and I love that it exists. I like Linux, but the fans are insufferable on Lemmy.

Linux Bazzite.

[-] li10@feddit.uk 16 points 2 weeks ago

You bought a neck with the frets already on?

Amateur.

[-] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world 12 points 2 weeks ago

And tree is already cut down? Arch user btw

[-] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago

Clearly this guy doesn't Arch Linux.

[-] Godort@lemm.ee 10 points 2 weeks ago

I would actually consider buying this as a kit. It would make for a fun project

[-] yokonzo@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago

This sub is fantastic, thank you for your hard work

[-] Rin@lemm.ee 3 points 2 weeks ago

My brother in Christ, if there was such a thing as an open source car that I can build from scratch, I'd buy it.

[-] Nuke_the_whales@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago

The same with people who insist it's easy to build my own gaming PC. I'm sure it's easy to build a ps5 with all the parts as well, but I DON'T WANT TO BUILD MY OWN ELECTRONICS. I don't care how easy they claim it is. Unless it comes out of the box, ready to plug in, I'm not interested. I don't have the patience to go through hours of tutorials

[-] emeralddawn45@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 2 weeks ago

lmao this comment is pathetic. Putting together a pc is not 'building your own electronics', its plugging parts into marked slots. Its literally easier than most lego sets these days.

[-] Nuke_the_whales@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I AM NOT INTERESTED!! I don't want an Ikea version of gaming machine. I have zero desire in doing it.

Which components into what slot? What brand and models? That's enough for me to avoid it. I don't want to do it, even if it's easy

[-] JayleneSlide@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

LOL. "I am disinterested in doing [a thing] that I don't have to do."

"Hurr hurr, ur pathetic."

Good fucking christ, this person isn't into building computers. The opinion expressed is utterly harmless and their personal preference. You are free to build all the computers you want.

Its literally easier than most lego sets these days.

Oh, yeah, anything can be super easy for people are interested in and experienced with doing that thing.

Building a computer properly is way more than "plugging parts into marked slots," and your comment is disingenuous at best. RAM timings, socket types, cooling selection, power supply selection, wire routing and dressing, version/generation conflicts, Red vs Blue, will the GPU even fit in this computer case, counterfeit parts... And this is all before the thing is plugged in.

PCPartPicker.com exists, handles all this for you with giant "you missed something" red text if something won't work, and is one of the most commonly suggested beginner tools. If someone's complaining about being told to build their own, theyve been told about that tool

People get scared of a very simple task because people like you spread nonsense that makes it sound hard
