A cruise company was forced to apologize after employees dressed up as "upside down snow cones" were mistaken for KKK members in videos shared online.

Videos and photos shared to social media showed crew members dressed head-to-toe in white and wearing pointed, cone-shaped hats with white masks attached to them, with only holes for their eyes.

While some passengers can be heard clapping and cheering, others can be heard gasping and whispering. In a video obtained by RT.com, one passenger can be heard saying "what happened" while others can be heard booing.

After several passengers and social media users thought that the costumes looked like KKK members, P&O Cruises Australia issued an apology clarifying that the staff was supposed to be dressed as "snow cones."

news.com.au is the fox news of australia fyi

other sources like 2GB that got mentioned are equally (perhaps more) trash. 2GB for example hosts our local version of alex jones

Yeah, it seems legit, I was just alarmed by the low quality of some of the other stuff. And the RT.com link.

The news.com.au story also includes a little more of the context which I found interesting:

Lynne Scrivens, communications director of P&O Cruises Australia, explained the housekeeping crew are from all over the world and “never heard of the organisation” when management pulled them aside to immediately remove their outfits.

“No one can seriously think that was their intention,” she told 2GB host Ben Fordham on Wednesday.

“They are limited with what resources they have on ships,” she said, adding they make do with what they have when it comes to costumes.

So, do they just have these guys sleep in a box in the cargo hold, or what? Jesus.

There's a franchise here called Krispy Krunchy Chicken

Every time I see the sign I think of the one guy in the marketing team who was like "let's go ahead and spell chicken the normal way"

And the team was like "but it makes us different. See we are spelling them with a K. We cant stop that theme at Chicken "

And he responded "we really need to stop that theme at Chicken. Just trust me on this one "
