The three circles can overlap. Peter Gabriel, for example. Probably David Byrne, Brian Eno, Nina Simone too, off the top of my head.

Hard to say. Going through his wiki, I don't see anything political left or right. Vegetarian for ethical reasons seems to be a mild left I guess

[–] KickMeElmo@sopuli.xyz 9 points 3 weeks ago

AURORA came to mind immediately as a trio candidate.

[–] dharmacurious@slrpnk.net 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I can think of a ton, actually. The just don't overlap with a fourth circle, "mainstream appeal," they're all folk singers like Phil Ochs and David Rovics. Most main stream is probably Todd Snider and he's by no means nationally popular or anything.

Freddie Mercury and Prince?

Their only controversy is that they liked sex and were bi, which to my mind, as someone who that also applies to, I don't see as immoral.

edit: grammar got fucked

RATM, Ignea

Ignea is the Ukrainian band that made the burning of Alexandria homoerotic

[–] match@pawb.social 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

honestly, probably most musicians

[–] MelodiousFunk@slrpnk.net 39 points 3 weeks ago

This is being very generous to Kid Rock.

[–] dumbass@leminal.space 37 points 3 weeks ago

Those circles are too close to kid rock

[–] Canonical_Warlock@lemmy.dbzer0.com 22 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Kid rock makes music for people who smoke newports through a hole in their neck.

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

And put truck nuts on their rascal scooter

[–] theangryseal@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Oh man now I want to get a rascal so I can have rascal nuts.

Why did you make me realize this possibility.

I want to get a little smart car and give it nuts too.

Everything needs nuts. We should fucking nuts for our phones bro.

PHONE NUTS! My 6 dollar idea!

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I feel like a smart car deserves metal nuts that throw sparks from dragging em big ballz and punk the lifted trucks

And the phone nuts are definitely doable as a 3d print out of TPU. My phone case has a little attachment point for a leash just clip em on there

Kid Rock makes music for people who don't pay their child support

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

See also: Ted Nugent missing all of the circles by a country mile.

[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 weeks ago

Nugent did give us an effective method for dodging the draft though.

[–] Ilovethebomb@lemm.ee -1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Eh? He's definitely made a few hits in his time.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

Hits ≠ good or interesting music. Kid Rock has had hits too.

[–] Ilovethebomb@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You don't get to decide that.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 weeks ago

Neither do you 🤷

[–] barooboodoo@lemm.ee 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Duuuude I just discovered this guy, been binging all his videos.

[–] Uranus_Hz@lemm.ee 2 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah his videos are great

[–] ThatGuy46475@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago

Why can’t good people make interesting music

[–] M0oP0o@mander.xyz 5 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Although I agree, some of this things songs live in my head. For years.

ON A STEAL HORSE I RIDE. (but I am not a cowboy)

(make it stop)

[–] VindictiveJudge@lemmy.world 15 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

*steel

That's Bon Jovi, not Kid Rock.

[–] M0oP0o@mander.xyz 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Well I don't own a horse, so how else am I riding one?

[–] spooky2092@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 3 weeks ago

Some of the women I've known talk about saving the horse to ride the cowboy.

Thats bon jovi cover

[–] Snapz@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

"I'm gonna tell my dad!"

  • Lil' Lord Rob Ritchie
[–] not_IO@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 3 weeks ago

in order to be a decent human being and make interesting music one has to pass the kid rock stage

[–] gmtom@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Kid rock should be a point on the graph, not a section of it.

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 weeks ago

cause hes a big something else. hes not making good music, nor hes good himself. hes definetly big... something.
