Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Well, time to get fluent in Spanish.

Hola, mi amigos.

[–] orclev@lemmy.world 21 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Warum nicht Deutsch? Oder beides. Beides ist gut.

[–] Jaderick@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Genau. Trump liebt deutsche Wörter wie Gleichschaltung und Lebensraum.

[–] RedEyeFlightControl@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Let's not forget Nebelwerfer or Panzerfaust!

[–] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 weeks ago

No, Español es mas facil.

[–] BozeKnoflook@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

Nederlandse heeft een sterke geschiedenis in Amerika. Er was zelfs een president die geen engels spreekt, want Nederlands was zijn moedertaal.

[–] tiefling@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

Right now is a really good damn time for everyone to start learning another language

Pourquoi pas le français?

[–] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago

French comprehension is worth points towards a Canadian PR card... just sayin'.

[–] kescusay@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Je t'ai eu, ma famille. (Translation: I got you, fam.)

[–] ryper@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 weeks ago

¿Dónde está la biblioteca?

I didn't hear you roll your r. Annunciate!

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 34 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

This, from a man who only knows about 300 words of English?

[–] OutlierBlue@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah but it's more than he knows in any other language, even Russian.

[–] CatZoomies@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Yes, but he’s really good at weaving. He said so himself. And man those words hit extra hard when punctuated by tiny accordion hands!

[–] PoopSpiderman@lemmy.world 27 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

That’s stupid. It’s very “on brand” for him.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 28 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It would have been even more on-brand to issue an EO that renames the "English" language to the "American" language.

[–] medicsofanarchy@lemmy.world 20 points 2 weeks ago

Shut up shut up shut up shut up shut up. Don't give him any ideas.

[–] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 2 weeks ago

When the white supremacy isn't overt enough...

The man can barely speak the language.

[–] chakan2@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

He speaks American, not English.

[–] Placebonickname@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

El queso está viejo y mohoso. ¿Dónde está el baño?

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

I thought it was going to be Russian.

[–] NotLemming@lemm.ee 7 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

As an English person I do not give Trump the right to use my language. He speaks american, not English.

[–] shasta@lemm.ee 4 points 2 weeks ago

I'm surprised he doesn't sign an EO saying American is the national language

[–] modus@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] NotLemming@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm not sure he even speaks american, its just gibberish words strung together. Sometimes a clause kind of makes sense but rarely a whole sentence.

[–] modus@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I disagree. His delusional rants are normally one long sentence. Incoherent and completely void of punctuation, but there is at least one grammatically questionable sentence in there.

[–] NotLemming@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago

I guess we'd have to argue over the definition of a sentence...

He starts saying something, changes his mind and forgets, so he doesn't actually finish a thought/sentence. Listen to him rant at Zelensky. He eventually gives up and just resorts to shouting out phrases with no context. 'Laptop from hell!'. It'd be funny if it weren't so awful. Okay it's still funny but I feel guilty for laughing.

À partir de maintenant, je ne parlerai que français.

Ese gordo naranja cabrón no tiene los huevos para aprender español.
