"Self later explained himself in a post on X, formerly Twitter, saying that “It is the policy of the United States to recognize two sexes, male and female,”"

But she is one of those two fucking sexes you piece of garbage.

[–] Marighost@lemm.ee 61 points 1 week ago (2 children)

He can't even use this because the very thing he's referencing (the Trump EO to define the two sexes) defines it by "at conception". At conception, every fetus begins as female before the other chromosome kicks in. Conclusion, Representative McBride is a woman. But so is he. Not that it matters.

Literally either way, that dumb fuck is wrong.

[–] TheRealKuni@midwest.social 36 points 1 week ago (2 children)

More accurately at conception everyone is sexless. No one has reproductive organs at conception.

[–] Marighost@lemm.ee 26 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh yes of course, but we can't use "genderless" with these people because they just disengage. It's slightly easier in my experience to just say we were all female first, which is why males have nipples.

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

And the ridge on our scrotum. It comes from the fusion of the genital folds. Males literally have our vags sewn shut. 🤭

Not that we should be looking for logic and reason from the bigots, but an executive order applies to the executive branch.

Maybe Keith Self needs to go back to elementary social studies to figure out which branch he is working for.

“In response, McBride said, “Thank you, Madam Chair,” before beginning her remarks.“

Perfection.

Keating is based as hell to call him out like that. Also lol @ the quick “Thank you madame speaker” response From McBride

[–] PM_Your_Nudes_Please@lemmy.world 92 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Yeah, the issue with the targeted person calling it out is that it just allows the attacker to pull the classic DARVO tactic and play the victim. If you fight back, it allows them to paint you in a bad light and use you as an example against everyone like you.

That’s why it’s so important to have allies. It’s the ally’s job to get angry and confrontational when the victimized person can’t. When the victim needs to maintain decorum, the ally should be flipping tables and getting in the victimizer’s face about it. Because Keating is an old white guy; His identity can’t be used to further victimize trans people like McBride’s would have been.

This is a perfect example of how the situation should play out. Bully tries to throw insults. The insulted person remains calm, but their ally gets in the bully’s face and makes a scene. The bully quickly retreats when they realize that they may need to actually back up their words, and the original victim is able to say that they did nothing wrong.

This is well articulated. This dynamic is something I think of a lot, because as a cis woman, I often have a disproportionate level of social power in scenarios similar to this

In response, McBride said, “Thank you, Madam Chair,” before beginning her remarks. She was soon cut off by the subcommittee’s ranking member Rep. William Keating, D-Mass., who asked Self to repeat his introduction. He then called McBride “mister” again.

“Mr. Chairman, you are out of order,” Keating shot back. “Mr. Chairman, have you no decency? I mean, I’ve come to know you a little bit. But this is not decent.”

Though Self said it was time to continue the hearing, Keating replied, “You will not continue it with me unless you introduce a duly elected representative the right way.” Self then adjourned the hearing.

Self later explained himself in a post on X, formerly Twitter, saying that “It is the policy of the United States to recognize two sexes, male and female,” referring to President Donald Trump executive order in January.

McBride later wrote on X that “No matter how I'm treated by some colleagues, nothing diminishes my awe and gratitude at getting to represent Delaware in Congress.”

Fascists fashing in addition to being contemptible fuckwits.

Why are ANY Democrats on Xitter?!

DNC, get your idiot consultants gone already.

[–] tonytins@pawb.social 33 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Bit of a catch-22 when you're a public official. It would make sense for them to just use cross-posting client to cover their bases, but I doubt they know that.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago (2 children)

but I doubt they know that.

That’s exactly the point. They’re following a playbook from the 90s at best.

You know if these people think the president has the ability to just declare laws then why don't they just resign? What's the purpose of a congressman? If he's just surrendered all the rights and privileges of his office then why does he need to fill his office? Just seems like he's a burden on the taxpayers at this point. Seems like that's an inefficiency that could be cut Musk.

”"I’m not here to fight about bathrooms. I’m here to fight for Delawareans and to bring down costs facing families," she said."

Fuck yeah. Rock on. I'm sorry she has to face this bullshit, but Delaware is lucky to have her.

[–] Cock_Inspecting_Asexual@lemmy.world 37 points 1 week ago (4 children)

I didnt know she was trans- To be totally honest im actually out of the loop on a lot of this, Visually, she looks EXACTLY like a woman (man I wish I could swap genders and pass-)

Dude she passes 100%, there's not anything to her appearance that looks masculine, and I say this as just someone looking at her first glance. I saw her for the first time and said "Thats deadass a woman, How do you misgender her she's literally a woman. Are they stupid?" then scrolled the comments and found out she's trans.

AND THEY STILL MISGENDERED HER??? Nah dude- fuck whoever did that, they're a prick fr.

(you're still a prick if you purposefully misgender someone but like- idk if the person looked exactly like man but prefers She/her, my dumbass is gonna be struggling regardless; I can barely remember to eat food during the day. But this scenario is like looking at Janet Mock and calling her a He. WTF??)

[–] Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.org 25 points 1 week ago (3 children)

(man I wish I could swap genders and pass-)

Should we unpack this or nah?

[–] Cock_Inspecting_Asexual@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago (6 children)

IM NOT TRANS YALL I SWEAR 😭 Sometimes I just wanna wake up one day and be like "Fuck it, im a dude today" And do some real undercover spy type shit and TOTALLY change my identity n shit. like I wanna get to the point where I could meet my friends and they'd be like "Who tf are you??"

GODDDDDDDDD itd be like living a double life- that sounds so cool to me.

i know that sounds goofy as shit but IMAGINE just being able to effortlessly swap entire genders like that, and then being able to go back when I feel like it?! UGHHHHHHHHH THAT BE SO FUCKING COOL

if im gonna be honest- I'd say im "digitally trans" if that makes any sense at all. I play a lotta online games like vrchat, and I fucking hate my voice cus I sound like a toddler, but the characters that I enjoy playing are all masculine men. So im working on getting a voice changer that can totally disguise my voice 😎 I'm still a girl, And I love being a girl lol, but im just sayin if there was a machine I could walk into and BAM im a full blown man, bits and everything....

👀 I'd invest my life saving into that shit

We can tell the difference between someone struggling to be polite and someone being malicious.

We know when we don't pass. We are hyper conscious of it. We are not going to jump on you for honest mistakes. We definitely do not want to make our gender your problem.

Personally, I don't care what you believe in your heart, or even what you say behind my back. If you are polite to my face, I'm cool. We can be cool. That's all I ask. If you are not, I will remove myself from the situation.

I cannot fathom the courage of Sarah McBride. She is incredible to endure this shit every day.

Agreed. We can all give each-other a break for misgendering by mistake. But this was pretty clearly an intentional asshole. They even repeated it and defended it after being given a chance in case it was a mistake.)

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 8 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

ever since the boxer incident right wingers have been purposely misgendering non-transgendered people. one family members were misgendered because she was wearing shoes that are not for her "sex"(not girlie look shoes, like colorful pics)

Wow, Delaware really has a jewel of a representative. Continuing with a flippant response to such an insult, afterwards declaring she's here to make life of her constituents better and refusing to rise to the bait of that mysoginistic POS? I wish there were more politicians like her.

[–] earphone843@sh.itjust.works 35 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Gotta give props to Keating too. It's refreshing to see a Democrat actually push back.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 29 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Not just push back, but push back so effectively. I hope Democrats see how well it works. Fascist are cowards by Nature. When you hit them in the face they fold. Feel free to take that metaphorically and literally.

It's so exhausting to see a legislator acting as if an executive order applies to them.

Dumb fuck, you don't work in the executive branch. It doesn't apply to you.
