Does anyone have recommendations for alternatives to Splitwise?

Recently they removed some features from their free version and now I am looking for an European alternative.

Thanks!

I have never heard of this, but is Revolut not European? Splitting was their big selling point initially

If you use ArcaneChat (https://arcanechat.me/) or DeltaChat (https://delta.chat/) there is an in-chat mini-apps for split bills, you can use it with groups of friends totally private end-to-end encrypted between chat members without the need of any online service for split bills

Me and my partner moved from Splitwise to Cospend on my Nextcloud instance. I like it more.

I used tricount last year and found it good. It's a large bank behind it (bunq), but they sit in the Netherlands.

Yup, been using tricount for years, can't rate it enough (especially now it does multiple currencies within a single kitty.

Mind you, thought it was French so have been pronouncing it "tree-cont" and that's no coming back from that! :)

https://spliit.app/ is a free and open source alternative (there is an official instance but it is also selfhostable).

just downloaded for ios and it looks great so far! curious why it has 0 reviews compared to tricount and splid which have around ~650 each.

Oh yeah I used this last year for a trip after I raised Splitwise only has 5 free transactions you can record per day.

Wtf, for real? Wow, bin that s**t... Tricount is fantastic

[–] rippersnapper@lemm.ee 3 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, but all my friends use Splitwise so sich with it. Network effect is a real b*tch. (P.S: Dunno about swearing rules here).

A little like WhatsApp, I can't get anyone to move so I'm stuck.

Fair point re swearing, low effort on my part

  • ihatemoney.org -> French FOSS Alternative
  • Cospend -> Nextcloud App

Both work with moneybuster on Android

If you are selfhosting then there is a plugin for Nextcloud for this. It's called cospend.

And there is the stand alone project ihatemoney.org. They are France based and offer both a hosted server and for you to operate it yourself

If your European bank supports Ideal you can use Tikkie and Groepie (Tikkie ask individuals for money back, Groepie is dividing group expenses) https://www.tikkie.me/groepie

[–] EntropyPure@lemmy.world 1 points 19 hours ago

Does Tikkie work with non Dutch bank accounts now or is it still NL banks only?

Isn't it Belgian?

In the Netherlands there is Splitser which even has iDeal integration but never seen anyone else use it

[–] DreasNil@feddit.nu 1 points 6 hours ago

I moved from Splitwise to Solitzer a few weeks ago. It’s simple and efficient, I like it a lot! I’m from Sweden, so I don’t use the bank integrations.

[–] lazycog@feddit.uk 5 points 1 day ago

Used to be called "wiebetaaltwat". Found out about this app years ago from couple of Dutch guys and it was actually quite nice to use.

Haven't used it in awhile so don't know if anything has changed, but it was simple and efficient.
