This needs to last until Trump is impeached and in prison for all the illegal activities and corruption. He need to be arrested for his attempt to repeat history using trade war to start a World War.

This was the fourth nationwide 50501 protest day and it won't be the last. There's already another nationwide 50501 protest being planned for April 19th!

great start, proud of you.

[–] usernamesAreTricky@lemmy.ml 2 points 7 hours ago

Note that this wasn't even the only protest. This was one of 1400+ protests across the country. Depending on the estimate you look at, there were around 5.2 million people protesting yesterday

Wow. Those are not rookie numbers.

Relative to what?

[–] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 38 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Now these are proper numbers

Then you'll really like knowing that some groups are estimating that over 5 million protested across the US in around 1400 locations

The >100,000 in DC was just one of 1400 hundred protests

It's so encouraging to see the momentum growing

Yes, i really really like that. I know we can't assume that all 5mil will be up for a general strike, but i bet a lot of them will.

It is estimated that 10mil is needed for a general strike to have effect, so this is clearly well on its way.

Awesome.

Let's hope this is more effective at creating change than the Women's March.

And amazingly they were able to hold back the urge to smear shit on a congressperson’s office.

[–] ObtuseDoorFrame@lemm.ee 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Amazing! Is there a source for this number?

[–] usernamesAreTricky@lemmy.ml 23 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

In photos: "Hands Off!" protesters rally against Trump across the U.S (Axios)

"DC and NYC are well over 100,000 attendees, each."

The total attendance estimate far surpasses the 500,000 RSVPs organizers counted as of Friday night.

By the numbers: More than 1,100 rallies, visibility events and meetings were scheduled in all 50 states as of Wednesday.

And also keep in mind most media is undercounting protests counts here

Was this coordinated with the palestine protests? I'm seeing zero news coverage on that one, which is not surprising I guess, but I also don't know the relation between the two
