With the newest image posted here, this has stopped being funny.
It now looks like an actual killer may be playing games on lemmy.

This doesn't need more publicity, in my opinion this calls for an admin to contact police.

The ~~pessimist~~ optimist in me assumes it is a viral marketing campaign for low budget horror.

IMO that's an optimistic take.

I was thinking of dismissing it being a negative take, but you are right that in this case that is more of a positive.

[–] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I can virtually guarantee you that is not the case. Lemmy is not a big enough platform yet to make that worthwhile.

Is it big enough to be a platform for distribution of unsolicited snuff footage with months of buildup?

Spammers don't usually get dedicated discussions, so odds are it is someone who really understands this kind of social media knowing what would spark discussion. The odds of that person distributing material that could be traced back to them seems pretty remote.

It could also be trolling instead of a movie. Odds of it being real are virtually nil.

What's the definition of it being "real" in this case? A real dead body? It definitely looks to be that. The question is rather whether it is the same person as the Nicole spam images.

Why would we delete it when it could be used as an investigation?

If the real nicole really did suffer at the hands of the perpetrator, then having this community could be invaluable for getting her justice.

This just turned from some troll-y ARG to CSI: Toronto.

The admin can set aside a backup for police.
But it doesn't need to be public.

We will just give the psycho attention they want. The Netflix documentary "Don't fuck with cats" describes very similar situation

I agree. I don't think this place was ever in good taste because it allowed pictures of her. Now it's worse.

At a minimum I think posts that include pictures of her should be banned.

IF this is true. Then I agree 100% agree with you. Jokes over if this has become a homicide

I agree. What if this psycho will start doxxing and targeting other users here?
