“Polls come and go. Our party is united. We’re on our front foot, we’re stepping forward, going after Trump and having real success,” Schumer insisted.

Nothing said here reflects reality.

[–] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 11 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

We’re on our front foot

He's on his ass ... which is remarkable since he's talking out of it at the same time.

[–] michel@lemmy.ml 1 points 13 hours ago

Maybe that’s why he’s also struggling to get his message heard

[–] SilentStorms@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 12 hours ago

Christ if this is success, what does failure look like

[–] RangerJosey@lemmy.ml 14 points 14 hours ago

"Struggles" doing Atlas level lifting here.

[–] Fourth@mander.xyz 6 points 12 hours ago

He cannot meet the moment.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 20 points 19 hours ago

I have despised this craven, insipid, spineless weenie ever since he collaborated with a clumsy Republican smear campaign to ruin Al Franken's career.

Since then, he has been ineffective at best, and has been a cowardly collaborator at worst. It's time for this loser to be removed from office, let AOC take his place, and be replaced as Senate Minority Leader by someone bold enough to go toe-to-toe with the MAGA Nazis.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 4 points 14 hours ago

More like coward sell out shows his true intentions.

[–] ZombieMantis@lemmy.world 23 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

He's not struggling to meet the moment, he's struggling to hold his own party down. Make no mistake, that traitorous bastard is a collaborationist Vichy-Democrat, a blue-dog-Republican snake. He wants as little to be done about the exploitation of the nation as possible, so he and his doners can reap the rewards.

[–] lost_faith@lemmy.ca 11 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Please primary all these dinosaurs, they were old when I was still young. I don't know your process but please get more progressives in the house and send this current batch out to pasture

[–] michel@lemmy.ml 3 points 13 hours ago

Schumer’s seat is only up in 2028 but if enough of his allies - preferably in safe seats - get primaried in 26 and the new progressives hold them in the general election (and hopefully win some back from GOP) I expect he will be forced out of leadership for the next Congress

It has to have enough shift to progressives or else he will take credit and stay on. He will also be ousted if Democrats lose again but in that scenario MAGA will continue unchecked for 2 more years at least

[–] Suavevillain@lemmy.world 26 points 1 day ago

"Struggles" is being generous. He is intentionally not fighting. The elderly leadership and all the AIPAC loyalists within the party major road blocks to any form of fighting back.

[–] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 23 hours ago

There's no struggle. Dude has always been fash.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 1 points 13 hours ago

Nobody appreciates the artistry that goes into writing a good angry but very polite and subservient letter these days.

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 142 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Schumer is a deer in the headlights at this point. If we’re being generous, he’s useless. If we’re being honest, he’s a fascist enabler. And fascist enablers are fascists with extra steps.

[–] Xanthobilly@lemmy.world 24 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (4 children)

I’m going to say something controversial to some of us: It’s because Jewish people are the fascists this time around. Israel is a militarized police and tech surveillance state whose leader will be ousted if the war stops so he went on the offensive. Chuck is receiving money from AIPAC and doesn’t want the campaign cash to stop so he’s looking the other way while the fascists take over.

[–] Croquette@sh.itjust.works 34 points 1 day ago

Zionists are the fascists, not Jewish people.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 50 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Every Jewish person I know is opposed to aid for Israel, supporting their genocide and very vocally supportive of Gaza/palestine and very critical of Israel-the-country

It’s not that he’s Jewish. He’s just a prick.

[–] SmackemWittadic@lemmy.world 41 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

As a Palestinian I keep feeling the need to bring up that we have no issues what-so-ever with Judaism or people of Jewish faith. But I hate Zionism to my core, and I strongly commend Jewish people against Israel. Please personally thank your Jewish friends for making a choice

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 3 points 15 hours ago

I'll pass it along, but I can tell you they're going to be a bit confused and say "it's just the bare minimum," or "it's just the right thing to do."

(that was their response when I expressed my own gratitude and appreciation.)

[–] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago) (1 children)

It's telling how people in the imperial core generally can't distinguish between judaism and zionism. That's how deeply ingrained the indoctrination and propaganda goes. The widespread conflation of judaism and zionism is a completely normalized form of anti-semitism.

[–] PowerCrazy@lemmy.ml 6 points 22 hours ago

The widespread conflation of judaism and zionism is a completely normalized form of anti-semitism.

And it is intentionally pushed by Israeli PACs.

[–] PalmTreeIsBestTree@lemmy.world 62 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Zionists to be specific. It’s not all Jewish people.

[–] ToadOfHypnosis@lemm.ee 11 points 1 day ago

Elections need to be publicly funded. Money in politics is the source of America’s decline.

[–] BigxRedxHusker@midwest.social 16 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Schumer Pelosi and Warren need to retire or be voted out.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago

There's no time left for voting them out. We've already had our last free and fair election.

This is Hakeem Jeffries erasure.

See also: Durbin, Cuellar, Clyburn, Hoyer, the entire Blue Dog Coalition, King, Coons, Klobuchar, Tester, Rosen, Hassan, Peters, to just name a few of the feckless Dems (and one independent Senator who caucuses with Dems but often votes with the fascists) who still value "bipartisanship" over the wellbeing of the people they're pretending to represent.

[–] GuyFawkes@midwest.social 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

She's useless, all Dem leadership is

[–] ceph@lemmy.world 6 points 20 hours ago

JESUS CHRIST! Get these old, ineffective fucking fogeys out.

[–] The_Caretaker@lemm.ee 75 points 1 day ago

This is the man who said his purpose as a Senator is to serve Israel. He should move to Israel. I wouldn't be surprised if he already has Israeli citizenship.

I mean, if they haven’t already it’s because wiki is slow walking the edit.

[–] TransplantedSconie@lemm.ee 11 points 1 day ago

They are busy moving the database to somewhere in Europe. Give them a bit.

People like him are the reason why the Democrats dont truly qualify in my eyes as an opposition party.

Good job New York. Keep electing this geriatric dust collector.

[–] thefluffiest@feddit.nl 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Not ‘struggles’, simply ‘fails’

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 4 points 13 hours ago

Still too generous; "fails" implies that he even tried

[–] Brkdncr@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

It’s not him. Make room for the new blood.
