Just read the thing. Damn! The level of unnecessary cruelty makes my blood boil.

Look, they used to give black people speedy and public trials and everyone got all pissed. What do you people want?

It's Mississippi and he's black , they've always been like this.

Whats shocking is it was reported, the south suppresses journalism worse than Russia, it's partly where the nazis learned it from.

reminds me of The Trial by Kafka

As an aside: what a terrible website. Even loads the whole page and hides it behind a read more button, for no reason because it’s already loaded the content.

[–] iopq@lemmy.world 17 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

The read more button is just to track if you in fact want to read more

It's already trivially easy to track scrolling. I think more nefarious than that. I think it's so that they force "engagement" on their site, since clicking a button counts as a user action.

Scrolling is still less voluntary than clicking. It’s a good tactic to monitor engagement instead of just page views.

Might be a script or something. Use Firefox with Ublock and NoScript. I don't see any button.

[–] boydster@sh.itjust.works 7 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

If you go into your settings for uBlock Origin, there's an option to have it block js. Someone on Lemmy told me that recently and I stopped using NoScript after that since it became redundant

Ooh thank you
