My bussy and my crack

[–] sxan@midwest.social 49 points 2 months ago (1 children)

If I need to stand in this situation, I don't open the bin, and I don't skip the line. Just stand; everyone else in your row can relax their elbows a bit.

However, there are people who need to make connections, and not everyone gives themselves a lot of time to cross the airport, hit the head, and grab some food on the way. There are definitely asshole travelers, but I try to give my fellow sufferers a benefit of a doubt.

The common enemy are the airlines; don't let them divide us.

[–] ILoveUnions@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Yup. Airports are one of the few places where I fully grant benefit of the doubt to anyone rushing

[–] zurohki@aussie.zone 19 points 2 months ago

This. I know I'm not going anywhere, I just want to stand for the next ten minutes.

This is me sometimes

I'm probably standing up because I've been sitting down for hours—I'm quite tall and broad, so even in the extra legroom seats, I'm usually at some level of discomfort.

Also I've often got a load of shit to put back in my bag, nice to get that done before I start moving. Plus, I always get the aisle seat, so I'm getting out of the way for others that want to do the same.

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago

Yup, I’m just over 1.9m and have been sitting like a pretzel for the last 4 hours. And even when I stand I usually need to tilt my head a little in and A320/737 or smaller.

[–] zxqwas@lemmy.world 61 points 2 months ago

I've been sitting down for hours. I really want to stand up and mind my own fucking business.

[–] systemglitch@lemmy.world 32 points 2 months ago

It's healthy to move

Bruh airline seats hurt to sit in for hours at a time. At least in economy class they really didnt make any decisions with passenger comfort in mind.

[–] pixeltree@lemmy.blahaj.zone 19 points 2 months ago

Ever torn between wanting to stand and stretch and not wanting to be standing hunched over cause I'm a tall bitch

[–] Dorkyd68@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Sone of us got ants in our pants and gotta move

More like billions of years of evolution baked into us that tells us to move

[–] Nanook@lemm.ee 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Getting out via the back, my inexperienced sister in flight.

[–] Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yeah except when most of the flights only let you go out through the front.

[–] Nanook@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago (3 children)

I fly twice a month, in a lovely 737, always get out from the back.

[–] RedditRefugee69@lemmynsfw.com 12 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Never been allowed to disembark from the rear hatch even if there was one. The umbilical is always attached to the front.

[–] Nanook@lemm.ee 2 points 2 months ago

Stairs for us plebs, front and back

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 1 points 2 months ago

SXM, front and back, down the stairs and onto a bus to the terminal.

[–] Pringles@lemm.ee 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

This all depends on the slot of the plane. If it's directly connected to the terminal, you can exit from the front only. If it's free standing and you need to walk over the tarmac or take a bus to the terminal, you can disembark from the rear because then they will open the rear exit as well. Ironically this means that with budget flights you disembark faster because they don't tend to pay for the premium slots that are directly at a terminal.

The type of plane, whether it's a 737 or A320 or whatever, rarely matters.

[–] Nanook@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago

Depends who you fly with and from which airport.

[–] Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I cannot remember the last time I exited through the back. I have not flown as much but for the last 10 years about 4-6 flights per year and I think I went out the back maybe once in Greece. But I am not sure might just be misremebering.

[–] Akasazh@feddit.nl 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Not often no. As I said most of the flights were longer ones.

[–] Nanook@lemm.ee -1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Was first one out last time, second one time before, all via the back. All within Europe

[–] Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

Lucky you. Maybe that's more common if you fly smaller airports and planes and exit via the stairs and not the tinnel thingie.

[–] Grimtuck@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago

It's so that they can get ahead of the three people sitting in the seats next to them and then proceed to walk at snails pace to border control and bagged reclaim. I stay seated and conserve my energy to power walk past them all. Mwahahahahaha!

[–] miss_demeanour@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 months ago

Hurry up and wait!!

[–] curiousaur@reddthat.com 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You ever travel alone with just a backpack, and jump up and run to the front before the light turns off?

Me neither, I'll wait till the people behind me are all off playing my video games for a few more moments.

[–] ADTJ@feddit.uk 3 points 2 months ago

Varies for me, I'm chill when I'm coming back home, but going to third countries where the front or back of the passport queue is 15 mins or 45 mins wait, best believe I'm getting off asap

[–] piranhaconda@mander.xyz 3 points 2 months ago

I have sciatic nerve pain that occasionally flairs up while sitting in those uncomfortable seats for hours. I'm standing immediately to stretch a bit, that's also why I always try to get an aisle seat

[–] stinky@redlemmy.com 3 points 2 months ago

Why does anyone care about this? Standing up doesn't affect anyone else

[–] slaneesh_is_right@lemmy.org 2 points 2 months ago (2 children)

My redditor in christ, what's the deal with airplane food?

[–] jia_tan@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

My sibling in christ we are on lemmy, not r*ddit

[–] slaneesh_is_right@lemmy.org 4 points 2 months ago

I'm aware, then why is everyone copying reddit speech and comments and even subreddits to the dot? Standing up in airplane humor in 2025?

[–] Pyr_Pressure@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 months ago

Depending on the time of day my airline feeds me charcuterie, muffins and warm cookies, sandwiches, and snacks and drinks.

Fuck all the other airlines, Air North is top boss.

[–] Chef_Boyardee@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Try riding a bus. Even worse. Absolute chaos.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Buses are a myth.

Why yes I am an American, why do you ask?

[–] SirQuack@feddit.nl 3 points 2 months ago

When I say 'choo choo' you say '[unstoppable sobbing]'

choo choo

[–] wetbeardhairs@lemmy.dbzer0.com -2 points 2 months ago

I sat in the aisle seat and I have no luggage in the overhead compartment so I am getting my place in line in front of the people who have to go back six rows to get their luggage because they're too cheap to check their shit.
