Also, ideological disability is different from intellectual disability. Naziism is an ideologically flawed perspective. Many intelligent people have been convinced of its efficacy - to the detriment of all.

Olvera — a third-generation American whose family immigrated from Mexico — said he typically votes Democrat but voted for Trump in November because he wanted a change. Now he appears to be questioning that decision.

As bad as I genuinely feel for these people, are you fucking kidding me.

These stories just boggle my mind. There was one of a woman who had an illegal immigrant as a husband. She still supports Trump even after he had been detained and she doesn’t even know where he is and if she will ever see him again 🤨😳

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago (2 children)

have a feeling those people will be in serious danger once in alligator Auschwitz.

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago

People will suffer and die, whether they do it in prose or not. Shit's about to get real.

[–] vinceman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 1 week ago

It's horrid. I'm so fucking glad I have no reason to go to the states

[–] BCsven@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 week ago

Yeah its terrible what is happening there but if they voted for Trump then Trent Reznor said it best... You're gonna get what you deserve

[–] Showroom7561@lemmy.ca 42 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Why on earth are Canadians STILL in the States? Get out of there! Like, WTF are you doing? You are in a HOSTILE country, and you will not have a good time there.

[–] cheese_greater@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I just met a dude at the winestore who unironically said he was A Floridian-Canadian [paraphrasing]

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago

Of all the states he could've chosen...

[–] garbagebagel@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Most of the people I know that are still going down there tend to be wealthier. I think it's something about them thinking the money will protect them?

I have a canadian-salvadoran coworker who just went down there to visit family, like are you fucking insane.

[–] xthexder@l.sw0.com 8 points 1 week ago

to visit family

People will go through a lot to be with family, it doesn't really matter how dangerous crossing the border is if that's the only way you'll see them again.

[–] wildbus8979@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Unfortunately some of us have family there, and while it's easy to think "well fuck it I won't go visit", it's not always so easy. Family gets sick, dies, etc.

[–] Showroom7561@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I totally get that, but it's still a massive risk. Going to see your sick family member might mean you'll be held in a detention center. Is it really worth it?

[–] wildbus8979@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah I'll let pop pop die alone in the hospital, you're right.

[–] Showroom7561@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Would you rather pop die alone in the hospital knowing that you're in a concentration camp? Come on man, think.

They are treating ordinary Canadian citizens as criminals. It will be a risk. And if you're willing to take that risk, you have to be willing to take the consequences that are pretty much well known at this point.

[–] wildbus8979@sh.itjust.works 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, I know what I'm risking. Go touch grass and learn how to grow some fucking and empathy for people.

[–] Showroom7561@lemmy.ca 3 points 6 days ago

I don't know if you're being serious or not, but I can't imagine doing something, knowingly, that would cause emotional distress to a loved one.

You have to consider the effort that someone else in your family will have to go through in order to attempt to get you freed from a country under a hostile dictatorship.

Again, perhaps this is worth the risk. I wouldn't want any of my family travelling anywhere to see me, if it puts their life or freedom at risk. This isn't a movie.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 42 points 1 week ago (1 children)

We need to drop the Canadian visits down 60% further to nearly zero. Only diplomats with immunity should go.

[–] i_stole_ur_taco@lemmy.ca 25 points 1 week ago (1 children)

If they can cancel a green card at a moment’s notice I wouldn’t trust them not to cancel diplomatic immunity the same way.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 week ago

I wouldn’t be surprised with fascists.

[–] OutlierBlue@lemmy.ca 25 points 1 week ago (3 children)

And yet the Canadian government still hasn't put out any warnings not to travel to the Fascist States of America.

[–] BCsven@lemmy.ca 3 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

There was an announcement on the website, just a mild warning that safety could not be guaranteed. Around this time. https://ctcnews.ca/2025/04/07/canada-us-travel-advisory-april-2025/

[–] isVeryLoud@lemmy.ca 1 points 5 days ago

What can we do to pressure the government into updating its travel advisory to the states?

Germany and the UK literally have a higher degree of caution listed, which is kinda insane.

[–] garbagebagel@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh wow wtf I could've sworn we had. I just looked it up and it seems like the US are the ones that issued a travel warning against people coming to Canada. What a fucking joke.

[–] BCsven@lemmy.ca 3 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

There was a mild travel warning, it said safety could not be guaranteed, but didn't say don't travel, just suggested making other arrangements, and that they couldn't interfere on your behalf. https://ctcnews.ca/2025/04/07/canada-us-travel-advisory-april-2025/

[–] Whirling_Ashandarei@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago

It's bad here and getting worse, y'all. Don't come, it's not worth the risk, treat us as the guy in the zombie movie who was hiding the bite and is now showing the signs of turning.

[–] Reannlegge@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I saw that they are not only deputizing the proud boys but they are now giving some an honorary kudos Juris Doctorate, and fast lining them into judges to deport immigrants.

[–] amino@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 week ago (2 children)

source? I've come across that claim too but it was mainly from liberals not understanding how cops actually operate

[–] Reannlegge@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 week ago

I thought I saw it on some interview Trump was saying it, not using big words like debutizing the proud boys or giving people Jurist doctorate’s. Rather he said he would give some of them the ability to decide who gets to stay. I cannot find a source so maybe that is a mistake on my part.

[–] amino@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 6 days ago

thanks for sharing. what I'm getting from this is that they're deputizing state cops to act as meat shields for the feds in case the affected people look for someone to target in retaliation.

I'm not implying this goes against local state ideology, just that the federal government is standardizing the party line.

Fak Ice, the degenrate institution for degenerate-citizen-patriots-turned-fascist due to low IQ, EQ, and low self awareness.

[–] Reannlegge@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago

I think you have described the proud boys right.

self-professed Nazi hater uses Nazi science to denounce the third Reich

[–] decapitae@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Nazis don't use science. They make up propoganda to appeal to the baser instincts of easily inflamed and manipulatable psyche's to enact violence and instill fear in the public. The paradox of intolerance is in argument alone, as after the instigating act of violence from the opressor - the resulting violence is self defense. This is what fascists like, because they are quick to anger and violence. They lie in wait to shed blood. Their haughty eyes seek opportunity to sew more discord in peaceful communities. They lie in order to facilitate more of their own ways.

[–] amino@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

you realize that fascists are rejoicing whenever their alleged enemies make the unfounded claim that fascism is a result of intellectual disability?

degenerate is a term that only race scientists use unironically

[–] decapitae@sh.itjust.works 1 points 6 days ago

Language lives. Take it back from those who would use it for inequality, hate and opression. Use it to fight the real criminals perpetrating human rights crimes.

[–] grte@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago

"Whoa, you say you don't like Nazis? That makes YOU the Nazi!"
