What the hell could be so bad that even the Blackhawks think it's unacceptable?
Rught?!
Maybe trying to speak up for something unacceptable that the hawks did?
"The team had remained unusually mum and secretive about his status, even after general manager Kyle Davidson held a news conference Saturday. Davidson is expected to hold another news conference Tuesday afternoon."
That's the only other information I was able to find; that's from the 'Chigago Sun Times'
I think it's funny they're being intentionally obtuse in answering questions and then describe people's speculation as "disgusting"
Why is it funny? If the union/lawyers/contracts are involved, there's plenty of reasons not to blab to the press. This doesn't seem like a "but the public has a right to know!" issue, so not sure why finding gossip disgusting would be funny.
Because they're being intentionally vague in their responses. What else would you expect from people when you don't answer their questions?
It does involve one other person though and that person has a right to their privacy.
What else would you expect from people when you don’t answer their questions?
"We fired Bob."
"Why?"
"You'll need to wait until we're ready to release more information."
"That's understandable. It doesn't really concern me anyways, I was just being nosy."
The team said it's not a criminal matter, and I tend to believe them on that point. So, it seems he did something that is legal, but wildly against team rules, and is being fired for it. The other players that have been asked have said they don't know what's going on, so it's likely not a locker room fight or something like that.
If it were drugs, you'd think he'd go into the player assistance program, unless he refused.
My guess, either drugs, or he did sleep with someone he shouldn't have, vehement objections to the contrary.
They also said it involves one team employee. And they didn't say it's not a criminal matter, they were asked if it was and replied "it's a workplace issue".
I'm guessing something like verbally or physically abusing a team employee. It was said it was "disgusting".
I thought the "disgusting" comment was referring to the fact that there were rumors about Bedard's mother - I took it as "it's disgusting that people make up these rumors".
Verbally abusing, I can see. Physically would be a legal matter, you'd think.
Edit: My wife just sent me this Yahoo article that implies it was an event involving a team employee. Makes me wonder if he said something racist or homophobic or something like that!
The team said it's not a criminal matter
This is the exact quote:
Is there any criminality involved here or anything potentially criminal?
Kyle Davidson: “This was a workplace matter.”
It seems to me he evaded the question. He didn't say yes or no. He just said something else that the question didn't ask.
