It amuses me how much misinformation is on lemmy, which is what this site's members espouse to be against.

[–] buttnugget@lemmy.world 5 points 7 hours ago

There was one unused casing that said something like “take that fascist” so I can understand why they’d call it anti fascist. The cringe ones were just assigned to trans people who also have online cringe culture.

[–] drmoose@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago

I don't even get how any editor lives down something like this. Giving green light on publish here is such an incredibly incompetent move

[–] notannpc@lemmy.world 22 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Conservatives are incapable of being shamed. They elected a pedophile and convicted felon who put together the least qualified government in history, and cheered when a South African Nazi threw out Nazi salutes behind the podium of the president. If none of that could make them feel ashamed, then falsely blaming the shooting on their current greatest enemy, trans people, has no chance.

[–] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca 3 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

With radical politcal groups, this is a feature not a bug. By going along with obvious bullshit, you prove your loyalty to the tribe.

[–] iii@mander.xyz 1 points 3 hours ago

Is that also why people here celebrate violence over dialogue?

[–] Philharmonic3@lemmy.world 25 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

Release the Epstein files.

[–] Yerbouti@sh.itjust.works 8 points 13 hours ago

Well pedo-prez is certainly enjoying a break from this right now. Once again, and for the last time, Charlie has been his useful idiot.

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 8 points 14 hours ago

Rumour has it the Epstein files are scrawled with transgender ideology, only one way to know for true.

Damage was done and the anger it put into conservative hearts isnt going away even if they admit it was bullshit. They will justify their anger with some vague comeback and keep on hating

Thank you, mainstream media, for showing how complicit and willing you are to shill any view given by those in power.

Journalism is dead and has been for decades, sadly.

They feared satire would be dead, but the onion has been killing it

Like they’d ever apologize. “Well this is what libs do anyway…”

Transgender ideology?

"You should install linux"

[–] buttnugget@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago

The killshot casing said “*notices bulge* OWO what’s this?” or something very very close, so I think that’s what they were going off of.

This was too stupid to be true, yet they ran with it. The MSM is dying, from self-inflicted wounds.

[–] pennomi@lemmy.world 48 points 21 hours ago (3 children)

Pretty sure false headlines like this actually increase engagement, and the retraction increases engagement again. They are optimally playing the capitalism game, not dying.

  1. Publish BS that one side of the political aisle wants to hear & they eat it up.

  2. Publish article calling out the first story's BS, and get those on the other side of the political aisle eating it up.

  3. Profit!

EDIT: fixed "aisle" thanks to @imsufferableninja@sh.itjust.works. I know that's the correct word, but I dunno why I didn't think of it when writing this initially. I think my brain's slowly turning to mush as I age.

sigh

https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/national-international/trump-administration-charlie-kirk-fbi-israel-gaza-september-12-2025/6390837/

From what I'm seeing:

10:39 AM EDT

Suspect's bullet casings had anti-fascist inscriptions engraved
By Danielle Abreu
Gov. Cox confirmed that investigators discovered a bolt-action rifle and scope wrapped in a towel and inscriptions engraved on bullet casings belonging to the suspect in the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk.

One of the inscriptions read, "Hey, fascist. Catch!" and another read, “If you read this, you are gay." A third casing had the lyrics to “Bella Ciao," an Italian folk anthem sung by the anti-fascist resistance movement during World War II.

Looks like it's possible. Sidenote, hilarious to me hearing the Utah governor read what sounds like c/196 transcriptions in such an official voice.

[–] spacesatan@leminal.space 9 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Reuters:

The bullet that killed Kirk had also been inscribed: "Notices Buldge OWO what’s this?”

Not enough people are talking about this. Makes 0 sense in context but great regardless.

[–] SL3wvmnas@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Do you happen to know how? As a layperson this seems like a lot of words to inscribe on a single bullet....

[–] pulsewidth@lemmy.world 8 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

I mean those are definitely anti-fascist, but I don't see a damn thing that could be interpreted as transgender.

[–] ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

In the video the Utah Gov. also says "Spots bulge, OwO" or something like that, idk why they left it out in the text I copied.

But yeah still not technically transgender, just whatever "uwu shit" is called (back in my day we spoke 1337, idk the name of this new tongue.)

[–] absentbird@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

OwO is just an emoticon, we had those back on dialup too :-)

[–] pulsewidth@lemmy.world 8 points 14 hours ago

I think that'd probably be called weeb / weeaboo talk.

Look out weebs, Fox News is about to make you public enemy number one for MAGAts.

Rupert Murdoch deserves to be flayed alive for his crimes against humanity and its societies.

Nothing will happen as a result of this, if justice is going to be brought against the global oligarchy it won't come from our governments.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 14 points 17 hours ago

Regressives feel no shame. People without empathy don't feel shame. They do promote and support hate.

[–] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 46 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

Damage is done. MAGA idiots will run with this regardless. Look at the anti-vaxx crowd as examples

Would like more confirmation on this than a picture of a tweet saying so.

[–] unexposedhazard@discuss.tchncs.de 64 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago) (1 children)

Its very much still up, now just framed in a "maybe do your own research before believing us" kinda way lmao

Early Bulletin Said Ammunition in Kirk Shooting Engraved With Transgender, Antifascist Ideology; Some Sources Urge Caution

https://www.wsj.com/livecoverage/charlie-kirk-shot/card/ammunition-in-kirk-shooting-engraved-with-transgender-antifascist-ideology-sources-pdymd1sXXMSlVRhpvR4b

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 47 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Thank you! That’s hardly a retraction, innit?

[–] saltesc@lemmy.world 28 points 22 hours ago

It's not.

But obviously their affirmation is as credible as the tweet. Surprise, surprise, narratives are trying to get the upper spin. The tribes continue. Nothing is learned; nothing is gained. It goes on...

Honestly, if there's gonna be engravings on bullet cases, I'd leave just three words: Change My Mind.

He says that as if it's not extremely common these days for preliminary, unconfirmed information to spread like wildfire, among everyone. The half-life of news in the public consciousness has grown so short that it's common for public attention to event X to have basically already dwindled to nothing, by the time all of the confirmation/debunking has happened.

Hell, I still encounter people, once in a while, who think Kyle Rittenhouse targeted and shot black people, all these years later, which was one of the very first things claimed about the Kenosha shooting after it happened, and was officially debunked almost immediately.

[–] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 17 points 20 hours ago

Conservatives have no shame. That's why the U.S is where it is.
