They're just making a market for someone to compile a 1TB "Best of the Best Cumpilation", copy it to a handful of cheap terrabyte drives and resell them (to legal adults) in a verification state.

  • This comment should not be read as condoning copyright infringement, but rather as a commentary pointing out that prohibition instantly creates very easy to serve and lucrative black markets that will be filled by someone.

Hello, I am here to condone copyright infrigement and advocate for the abolition of the intellectual property regime and the criminalization of pro-copyright advocacy for they are enclosers of culture and therefore the enemy of humanity and should be ground into a fine powder.

Also, abolish Michigan !

American Taliban.

Simple as that.

Domestic terrorists who typically look unkempt and dirty, attempting to oppress others.

American Taliban.

[–] CaptainBlinky@lemmy.myserv.one 2 points 39 minutes ago

They're not domestic terrorists when they're the ones in charge. They're fascists.

[–] interdimensionalmeme@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 hour ago

Hello, I assure you unkempt dirty people are fine people please do not associate us with these anti-human scums

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 4 hours ago

Conservatives melting down

[–] andros_rex@lemmy.world 25 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

Eight states have ID verification laws.

Oklahoma has tried several times to make viewing porn a felony.

Everyone laughing this off as impossible is not taking this seriously enough.

[–] Euphoma@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

Honestly I forgot porn was banned in Utah (id verification) and I live in Utah. Its still relatively easy to view sites without vpn or id

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

I'm in Florida and so many sites block or want to verify me that I automatically hit my VPN server.

[–] MiddleAgesModem@lemmy.world 20 points 7 hours ago

If they removed porn from the internet, the next day there would only be one website called 'BringBackAllthePorn.com'"

Dr. Cox

The GOP really thinks there won't be any more elections, don't they?

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 12 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

At the speed at which this is happening, there won't be, and I'm not joking.

No one is coming to save us.

Arm up. Train. Help everyone you can arm up and train. Form networks and use encrypted messaging apps to communicate.

I'm not going to pretend like I know how this will play out, but the one thing I know is that our federal government has been captured by literal fascists and they're going to dial this up to 11 and see what happens. Maybe they simply don't have enough national support to really pull it off. Maybe they do. I do know that you don't want to be unprepared if they do.

It can happen here. We never thought we'd be where are are right now. But we are.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

There will be elections. They'll just be sham elections in the places where they're overseen by Republicans.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 1 points 22 minutes ago (1 children)
[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 1 points 6 minutes ago

Worse than what used to be normal.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

100% with ya. Going shooting at my camp shortly.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 3 points 7 hours ago

Yeah, if trumples is still around by the next election they will try for a 3rd term with all the fun times that will bring.

But if he's dead/has been trundled off to a gar gar home (he's 99.5% of the way there anyway), then I think they'll have a hard time of it.

[–] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 22 points 9 hours ago (3 children)

GOP projecting again. Sounds like the party has a porn addiction!

[–] ganryuu@lemmy.ca 17 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I see it more as a step towards banning a ton of content they don't like by claiming they are porn, or porn-adjacent (for example any LGBTQ+ content)

[–] TipRing@lemmy.world 11 points 3 hours ago

It was literally outlined as this in Project2025, ban porn then define speech you want to suppress (primarily LGBT but also women's health) as porn.

[–] bytesonbike@discuss.online 10 points 8 hours ago

Just came to say this.

Check this dude's hard drive for petabytes of porn.

[–] aceshigh@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

Which lawmakers are they?

[–] psycho_driver@lemmy.world 21 points 10 hours ago

VPN companies hearing the distant cha-chinging of cash registers.

[–] Cheems@lemmy.world 6 points 7 hours ago

"if I am very against it no one will think I'm an elite gooner"

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 23 points 11 hours ago

While they all install VPNs for themselves.

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago

Freedom of speech that we like and have previously approved in writing and in triplicate. Subject to terms, conditions, feelings, and whims.

[–] interdimensionalmeme@lemmy.ml 58 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

But not gambling, cigarettes, day trading, doom scrolling, sub minimum wage gig work right ?

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 21 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Don't forget congressional insider trading!

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago

Also pedophilia on private islands!

[–] Quazatron@lemmy.world 35 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

As a relatively recent country (by European standards), USA did not go through the Middle Age. I guess this is it. Enjoy the public burnings of heretics.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Presumably there were some native Americans in that part of the world by that point in time. I wonder what they were doing.

[–] Quazatron@lemmy.world 4 points 6 hours ago

I'm sure they were not killing each other over imaginary friends, or debating whether mammary glands should banned.

[–] sigmaklimgrindset@sopuli.xyz 75 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago) (4 children)

They're banning explicit manga AND erotica? Gooners, you gotta rise up and save the Michigan fujoshis and fudanshi!

In all seriousness, the real reason is clear, conservatives love telling on themselves:

Schriver's bill also has a transphobic component. If adopted into law, the act includes prohibitions on material that "includes a disconnection between biology and gender by an individual of one biological sex imitating, depicting, or representing himself or herself to be of the other biological sex."

~~Someone in the Michigan legislature got caught being too into femboys or something similarly stupid, probably.~~

[–] TwitchingCheese@lemmy.world 11 points 9 hours ago

I mean, this is the same guy that wants to criminalize homosexuality so that's on brand.
