This is the one that stings for decades after he’s gone. Maybe America can come back from the clutches of authoritarianism, but the judicial branch will be fucked up for quite a while. Perhaps helping pave the way for a future wannabe rightwing dictator. The Supreme Court is fucked as it is, and it can get worse
Don't despair, Biden has already confirmed many more qualified Federal judges than Trump.
Trump will very likely die in custody.
I expect to see some real action against SCotUS's open corruption in Biden's second term.
I saw a quote from some stupid little shithead saying that he wasn't going to vote for Biden because he didn't forgive student loans and didn't stop abortion rights getting overturned. The idiot actually said that it wasn't that big of a deal for Trump to win, we survived the last term, so it's worth it to teach the democrats a lesson. I have never wanted to strangle a few lines of text more than that.
can you link that?
You know, if democrats wanted to stop this, they could appoint judges when they have the chance instead of just not doing that bc republicans gave them a stern look
Democrats: We'll elect a judge
Republicans: We'll block you
Democrats: 😮
Then
Republicans: We'll elect a judge
Democrats: It's our turn to block you!
Republicans: We'll do it anyway
Democrats: 😮
Well let's see here. There are three liberal judges left on scotus. After appellate says no, will find that it's a-ok for trumpie to order seal team six to assassinate political opponents.
So at that point, you just off ALL the liberal judges and put your beer boofing puppets in. Your history of killing enemies will be a great way to keep your appointees in line.
Then you just take EVERYTHING to court, and do as you please. (At this point I listed a bunch of examples, but even in jest, I couldn't stomach the words I wrote)
Fun fact. Biden has a year to get that done himself if SCotUS decides to braid their own noose.
That notion is not lost on me. I'm afraid he wouldn't be ruthless enough to pull that trigger.
