I can't tell you how many times I think of an amusing idea only to remember that it already exists.

[–] ZOSTED@sh.itjust.works 24 points 2 years ago

This is the most judgey comma I've seen in a while. Very well done

In one of the newer jumanji movies the kids that get trapped in the game are played by jack black/dwayne Johnson/kevin hart.

[–] Sotuanduso@lemm.ee 8 points 2 years ago

Yes, thanks. For some reason I can't edit that right now.

[–] littlebluespark@lemmy.world 10 points 2 years ago (2 children)
  1. It's not the whole franchise, so that's not entirely accurate, and 2. the movie they're referencing was the weakest of all the Jumanji cash-grabs (funded in no small part by Hart & Johnson), so there's little likelihood that anyone would complain — Besides, it's the fuckin' Muppets! Let's go-o-o-o!
[–] OneOrTheOtherDontAskMe@lemmy.world 10 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Wait, but the new jumanji beats Zathura by a long shot, both pale to original jumanji.

[–] littlebluespark@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

Every bullshit attempt after the Robin Williams classic isn't worth being referred to as a Jumanji movie. Case closed.

[–] drphungky@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Whoa whoa whoa - the Jumanji reboot was excellent. It's still a kids movie, but Jack Black was amazing, and even Kevin "Homophobe" Hart showed some chops. And the Rock and Karen Gilliam are both good as always.

Yes, it's a derivative recycle of existing IP capitalizing on nostalgia, but everything now is a derivative recycle of existing IP capitalizing on nostalgia. At least they updated the board game idea to have fun 80s video game call backs and tried their best for a good script and good acting. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Sounds like Drunk Muppet History to me. Why not?

[–] Vespair@lemm.ee 3 points 2 years ago

My immediate thought too

[–] BrazenSigilos@ttrpg.network 66 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Miss Piggy would definitely call it a Boarbarian, however.

[–] bradorsomething@ttrpg.network 66 points 2 years ago (3 children)

“Kermit the Bard here…”

[–] littlebluespark@lemmy.world 20 points 2 years ago

I heard that. 🥰

[–] SkybreakerEngineer@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

I now really want to see a version of Rainbow Connection but with more YABOGABI

[–] littlebluespark@lemmy.world 11 points 2 years ago

I do hope she makes a CR ref with "I... would like... to... rrrRRA-A-AGE!!"

[–] fidodo@lemmy.world 50 points 2 years ago (2 children)

My favorite is when you have a great serious performance with Muppets as the costars like Michael Cain in the Muppets Christmas Carol

[–] Facebones@reddthat.com 23 points 2 years ago

I watched that on Christmas solely for how straight Michael Caine plays it in a fuckin Muppet movie ❤️

[–] Vagabondshad@ttrpg.network 19 points 2 years ago

As I've seen before, there's only 2 best ways to act alongside Muppets:

  1. Michael Cain method- they are the same as human costars and I will play this as seriously as a car wreck

Or

  1. Tim Curry method- this is a muppet film and I will act like I myself am a muppet, no silliness is too silly

I envision this as something Community would have pulled off if the rights were in place. I miss that show...

[–] Uglyhead@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago

I miss the banned episode

Chang is the asshole of all assholes on that series and shows up in Dark Elf makeup… https://youtu.be/dk4eT5huZxc?si=hjxQTnxlhyVt75_L Because of course he did.

[–] felbane@lemmy.world 18 points 2 years ago (2 children)

If you like the "cutting back and forth between table and in-game" part, the Gamers series by Zombie Orpheus Entertainment would be right up your alley. Particularly "Dorkness Rising," easily the most quotable film in the set.

"sigh My, what fine yet rustic architecture. I will examine it more closely."

[–] Vagabondshad@ttrpg.network 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

"Hide behind the mound of dead bards!"

[–] felbane@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

"How much experience do I get for the farmer?"

[–] Mastema@infosec.pub 1 points 2 years ago

Total Waffle!

[–] DontTreadOnBigfoot@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

This is the second time in the last week I've been told I should watch this series.

I think it's a sign

[–] Qwaffle_waffle@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Roll for perception of obvious signs.

[–] felbane@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

OOOOOHHHHHH FFFFFUMBLE!

[–] Jarix@lemmy.world 17 points 2 years ago

Its my hope in 5 to 10 years this will be enough of a prompt for ai to make you a movie.

It will be good for about 3 to 5 years, then all the streaming services left will bring out an AI tier subscription and Aiflix will lose prominence as functionality is the new copyright not content

[–] dangblingus@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Basically kinda like Drunk History.

[–] Thassodar@lemm.ee 3 points 2 years ago

I used to get baked and put that show on back to back while cleaning my room. Great stuff, sad it's gone.

[–] HotsauceHurricane@lemmy.one 11 points 2 years ago

Drunk history vibes. I can dig it. 👍

[–] Talaraine@kbin.social 8 points 2 years ago

I love everything about this.

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago

Disney owns the Muppets, so...

[–] FartsWithAnAccent@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

I'd watch it

[–] ShaunaTheDead@kbin.social 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)
[–] Lemjukes@lemm.ee 3 points 2 years ago

The world would be a better place if we could all see through Kenneth’s eyes.

[–] HelixDab2@lemm.ee 4 points 2 years ago

Due to the way writing credits work, how writers get paid, etc., posting this in public pretty much guarantees that it won't get made. Studios are very adverse to risks of lawsuits, about, say, "Studio X stole an idea that I had for a film, and didn't credit or pay me".

If you think you've got a great idea, for fuck sake, write up a script, get an agent, and shop it around. Don't post it online.

[–] RedditWanderer@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

You bully the license and copyright lawyers first.

[–] k48r@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

How high was the person who thought of this

[–] dudinax@programming.dev 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Excuse me, but you can't be voiced by a muppet.

[–] sirblastalot@ttrpg.network 18 points 2 years ago

Not with that attitude

[–] Archpawn@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Reminds me of Amphibians & Anthropomorphisms, though that's humans roleplaying as muppets.
