My arms were folded like that when I realized cannabis does not in fact make you go crazy or do unspeakable things. So many lies for so many decades. All for what, as now it is 100% legal in my country and almost all the stats are positive not negative. Why is no one being held accountable for the blatant lies?
I was one of the very small number of children that bought that bullshit, that all drugs are bad and what have you, but even I thought signing that pledge was kinda fucked up. Like you were required to sign it, we didn't have a choice.

I mean, I was walking home from school on my usual route, but didn't really know this little stretch of suburbia and an older kid (a couple years older than I was) offered to smoke me out.
I passed because I was in middle school and this was a stranger.
Dude seemed really disappointed. I think he just wanted to smoke and chill with somebody, anybody.

The only people who have offered me drugs are friends who were offering to be polite. I always decline, but use the phrase "No thank you" to let them know I appreciate the gesture.

Geez I don't know, maybe it's because tobacco is wildly more toxic and carcinogenic. Maybe it's because tobacco causes hundreds of thousands of deaths every year. Or perhaps it's because tobacco is loaded with thousands of equally as toxic additives. Just spit balling here.
Pretty sure you'd have seen a shit show for anyone who chose not to sign. Especially in like 5th grade when you got this stuff. Most 10 years olds are scared shitless by cops.

Meh, seems to be both. Don't get me wrong, alcohol is way worse overall. But in my experience the biggest gateway drug to harder stuff is music festivals and learned household behavior from kids in shitty situations.
