In no way do I condone his actions, so let's start with that. Coulda, shoulda, whatever, is not what his trial was about.
Given the video evidence presented, he shot in self-defense. Given Washington state's law regarding self-defense, he shot in self-defense. Not going to replay it all, you can see for yourself.
All in all, it was a clusterfuck of biblical proportions. "Should have never happened.", isn't a legal doctrine. "He went looking for trouble and found it.", isn't a thing.

I’m of the opinion that this community is being ruined by you posting too many things that aren’t news.
Just filter the unwanted user out of the posts you see. The app I use for Lemmy includes this feature. I use it to clean up my feed from gallowboob-type ubiquitous posters, as well as any headline that includes the words "slam," "slams," or "slammed." I can also eliminate any headline ending in a question mark, as the answer is an automatic "no," so the question is not worthy of my attention.
