This is a net win. Now they won’t be recommended to everyone trying to do hardware comparisons. The bias in their results has pretty much made them worthless as a source since Ryzen released.

This weekend I got the chance to shoot my first rallycross event. Despite literal inches of rain, it was some of the most fun I’ve had with a camera.

I’m not interested in seeing blatant hate, homophobia, transphobia, sexism and racism.

There’s no such thing as a right wing voter with any common sense anymore. None have any arguments other than being allowed to hate.

Since you’re getting troll comments from right wingers I’ll try to give an actual answer

Feinstein was no longer mentally fit to serve in office. She was essentially the pre-cursor to a weekend at Bernie’s setup. She was not cognitively present enough to vote on legislation or even hold a conversation.

People are glad she passed because it means her seat is open to someone who can actually work on policy and benefit their constituents.

Liberals are not exactly a fan of letting the elderly die in office after the RBG situation that ended up with a stacked court when she had the option to retire under Obama.

Also Lemmy has definitely been having more right wing trolls recently and it’s making me want to use the platform less.

I definitely see this as “we can’t get away with the boys club anymore” rather than a problem with Gen Z. Gen Z won’t hide their unhappiness with any of the -isms and will call it out instead of just keeping their head down.

Nothing they do at this point will bring any of the goodwill back. They already messed up and no amount of walking it back is going to change the perception that they might just do it again at any moment

The only reason I used prime video was because it came with prime. I’m just going to stop using it altogether if there’s ads

It’s almost like the whole thing is a politically motivated false impeachment to try to discredit Trump being impeached twice. They only want to impeach Biden because they can then point and say “Biden was impeached too, it means nothing”

Hadn't seen this posted, but for anyone who uses Trading Paints in conjunction with iRacing you need to go in and change passwords NOW!

There was a leak of 270,000 accounts with emails/passwords in md5 format (easily reversible to plaintext)

If you use the service make sure to reset your passwords asap and if you use the password shared on other services you should make sure to change it as well

They can try all they want, but I’ll just wait until the game comes to steam. No game is worth using that dumpster fire of a launcher.

Good

AI should not be given free reign to train on anything and everything we’ve ever created. Copyright holders should be able to decide if their works are allowed to be used for model training, especially commercial model training. We’re not going to stop a hobbyist, but google/Microsoft/openAI should be paying for materials they’re using and compensating the creators.

Anyone want to run the 24 hour race at Le Mans in iRacing this weekend?

Don't currently have an endurance team and just realized the race is coming up quick. Not super fast (like we know from the league), but pretty consistent and know the track/car well.

I'd prefer the LMP2, but could drive a GTE too. Only requirement is a C class license and the track/car.

Rig is a NLR F-GT. It's handled everything I've thrown at it so far, but it's struggling to keep up. The Seat on this rig has been ripped up by my cat, so a sweatshirt and a towel have gone into service covering up the very ripped leather. I plan on replacing the seat soon, so hopefully won't have that problem for more than another year or so.

Wheelbase is a VRS DFP. It's amazing and I love it. Packs quite a punch and does really try to rip your arms off at full FFB. This is paired with a CubeControls QR (Also known as the aliexpress one) and an Ascher F64-USB.

Pedals are also the VRS Pedals. Currently I only have 2 installed, but I do have the optional 3rd clutch that isn't mounted right now. The pedal plate flexes a lot more than I'd like, even with the additional strengthening kit from NLR.

Rig is a dedicated sim PC with a 11900K, RTX 3080 and 32GB of RAM. Triple 32 inch 1440p/144hz monitors round out the setup, mounted to a Rigmetal Monitor Stand.

I also have a Polsimer F74 that is no longer in use and a NLR GT Rim for if I need a round rim.

I'm happy to answer any querstions!

Rules

Please read the iRacing Sporting Code - This is extremely important, and will be worth the time it takes. The iRacing UI will also ask if you've read this before joining your first official session. We will follow the iRacing rules on clean racing.

Protests will be handled after races are finished, outside of extreme cases. They can be submitted privately to myself or publicly in the thread. Both parties will be able to tell their side and then 2 uninvolved members will be asked to make a decision.

Getting Started With iRacing

With some members not having use iRacing before, I felt like it would be good to add a section about getting started. This will set you up with a 1 month subscription, the UI installed, graphics configured and into a test session.

Signing up

https://www.iracing.com/membership/

The iRacing signup process offers a discount to new members, at ~40% off. This is a one time deal and if you choose to renew your membership it will be at full price. Many long term subscribers work around this by purchasing one year subscriptions during the yearly Black Friday sales.

Our league is setup that a minimum subscription of 1 month, starting on Aug. 1 will get you all the way through the season. For a new account a 1 month membership is $7.80 USD.

When you signup be sure to DISABLE the Auto-Renew subscription if you would not like to continue after the conclusion of the league.

Install the iRacing UI

When you log into the iRacing Member Website for the first time after signing up it should take you through a First Startup Guide which will guide installing the sim software, iRacing UI and any other necessary dependencies.

Graphics and Triple Monitor setup

I'm going to link to an external source on this, as Dan Suzuki has covered this really well.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-irPlVdDdJo&t=615

Joining The League

In the sidebar of the UI select "Find a League"

Search for "Lemmy iRacing League"

If there's interest in a group practice session I'll get one going, and then I'll be available online at least an hour before each race. Please leave any questions here in the thread and I or someone else should be able to help.

He’s always been this bad, he just had enough people around him that sanitized everything we saw about him. There’s reports of teams at Tesla dedicated to keeping him out of the way. His Twitter was sane probably because it wasn’t actually him running it.

It truly is a case of he’s always been this bad, it’s just not being hidden anymore. I’m pretty sure he went off the rails during covid and stopped listening to anyone but himself. He’s shown glimpses of this through his career, most people just ignored it as eccentric billionaire though.

Just like Kanye appeared to fall off the deep end, musk also looks like it was sudden, when in fact it’s been a growing sentiment over the years.

Hey all,

Sorry about the google forum, it's set not to collect any info, but we all know how much info that still means google will grab.

I think that due to the spread of timezones interested we should plan to run the races on the weekend. They'd take ~30-45 minutes (Race length to be decided later) but shouldn't take more than an hour and a half maximum.

Please select any timeslots that you're available for, we'll choose the one that the most people can make.

To join the League you'll need to Search for the "Lemmy iRacing League", currently with id 10017. The correct one will link back to https://lemmy.ml/c/simracing as the website link. Request to join and I'll accept any incoming join requests.

When reading through some of the other comments on the page, I noticed there's a good number of people who at least have an iRacing subscription. Would there be any interest in a 1 month long, free content only league? It would allow people to try the sim for a minimum cost if they're interested.

A 3 week mini championship with the MX-5 Cup, Formula Ford and Street Stocks could make for a lot of fun.

I'd be happy to organize and cover hosting costs if we can get 5/10 people interested

Edit: 5 Interested, I’ll put a poll together later and we can look at running this for the month of august.

His investment is probably part of why these are such a hot commodity.

The media presence and advertising from LMG is worth a crazy amount. His followers are the exact target audience of this device and as long as he’s showing off what they’re up to I think they’ll continue to sell like this.

[-] BURN@lemmy.world 134 points 1 year ago

Ad revenue is down (at least) 50% and they just keep making decisions that kick people off their platform.

I’m pretty sure Twitter advertising and Reddit advertising are in a race to the bottom to see who’s going to have to pay companies to put ads on their site first.

It’s insane to watch this happen. I remember watching the rise of Twitter as a kid and it becoming ubiquitous with social media, only to see it crash down this quickly.

I’m speculating, but I’d guess a lot of functionality is being limited because they don’t have dev staff to maintain it, as well as trying to cut server costs as much as possible. I’d honestly be surprised if musk was making these decisions because he thinks it’s good for the health of the platform. There has to be some ulterior motive for it.
