It saddens me to admit, but google maps is by far the best maps app, ig all that stalking does come in handy. OSM just doesn't have nearly as much data or information about certain places

So I was thinking, if you can proxy google's search results via something like startpage, is there an app that can do the same for google maps? As of now I've yet to find one

I remember reading a study done in the late 1990s (I'm pretty sure it was ford) that looked at who was most likely to buy a pickup truck so they could market them better, and they found the people who buy pickup trucks fall into 2 categories, one, a blue collar boss buying it for his employees, or two, an insecure man in his 30s-50s trying to compensate

This companies are able to generate billions in profit every quarter, let alone every year. They have also been reporting record breaking profits quarter after quarter for the past several years. I'm pretty sure the 17 y/o Burger flippers aren't the problem here.

https://www.macrotrends.net/stocks/charts/MCD/mcdonalds/gross-profit

  • McDonald's gross profit for the quarter ending March 31, 2024 was $3.439B, a 3.77% increase year-over-year.
  • McDonald's gross profit for the twelve months ending March 31, 2024 was $14.688B, a 9.03% increase year-over-year.
  • McDonald's annual gross profit for 2023 was $14.563B, a 10.26% increase from 2022.
  • McDonald's annual gross profit for 2022 was $13.207B, a 4.98% increase from 2021.
  • McDonald's annual gross profit for 2021 was $12.58B, a 29% increase from 2020.

[1]Average franchise profitability at Burger King rose nearly +50% last year (2023) compared to 2022

  • Starbucks gross profit for the quarter ending March 31, 2024 was $5.914B, a 0.06% decline year-over-year.
  • Starbucks gross profit for the twelve months ending March 31, 2024 was $25.104B, a 8.86% increase year-over-year.
  • Starbucks annual gross profit for 2023 was $24.567B, a 12.01% increase from 2022.
  • Starbucks annual gross profit for 2022 was $21.933B, a 7.93% increase from 2021.

govtrack.us/misconduct

This page lists 493 instances of alleged and actual misconduct by legislators in the United States Congress from 1789 to the present.

The data has been collected from public information about congressional investigations, criminal convictions, censures by and expulsions from Congress, and more. The list is updated as new information becomes available.

An allegation of misconduct listed on this page does not imply guilt, unless it is followed by an official determiniation of guilt. Conversely, the absence of a determination of guilt does not imply innocence as Congress polices itself in many cases, and legislators are reluctant to punish their peers.

Not necessarily fear it's just most of the time today it's used in horror

Back then it was probably used to differentiate Neanderthals

This reminds me of that time google was scanning photos and reported a man to the police for being a pedophile, turns out it was a father sending a picture to his doctor

They always hide behind the claim it's for the children... but how many children have they actually saved from this?

Not all humans inherently deserve rights just because they are human. Think of people like Hiter, Jeffrey Dahmer, and the dozens of other evil people. No one would reasonably think they deserve sympathy, because of what they chose to do.

If your evil enough to commit such a heinous act as child rape, I don't see any legitimate reason why that person should deserve any sort of sympathy.

Subconsciously everyone agrees on this to some extent. Look at prisons, (depending on the crime) they remove your right to vote, own a gun, even walk outside, and have certain jobs.

The reason I believed my take is controversial is because of how I think those pedos would lose their rights. I believe people as evil as them aren't people at all. They are simply containers of flesh with a human face, and should be seen as such. I have no issue with the idea they should be used as slaves and test subjects. Arguably this would actually benefit humanity (especially in terms of medicine) because now instead of risking the lives of innocent people like doctors or everyday Joe's, we could use them to see if the experimental drug has any side effects. Honestly, what are they going to do? Revoke consent? I wonder of the child they raped got that same privilege...

I'm sure this goes without saying but the person would have to be caught red-handed with undeniable proof to be subjected to this

I'm extremely new to this site, but have seen a lot of promising things. People here seem to use logic and common sense, instead of baseless feelings. I've also seen calling out hypocrisy and (to put it lightly) evil laws and regulations.

So you guys know how if you Boil down Twitter users, it's basically blue haired vegan feminist. Reddit users are the basement dwelling pedophiles. And 4chan are the racists.

What is the stereotypical lemmy user?
