While alternative app stores operate independently and are required by EU law, Apple is still in a position to exert some control. This became apparent a few weeks ago, when iTorrent users suddenly ran into trouble when installing the app.

Thought this was an interesting story, since it's pretty analagous to the recent Android situation, with third party app stores being enabled to some extent, but the company retaining ultimate censorship power.

This post had a lot really good suggestions for couch coop games on Linux and I was wondering if there are controllers people recommend or if all the third party ones are the same? I have an Xbox controller with Bluetooth I might be able to find but they are kind of pricey so I don't want to buy another unless for some reason that's the best thing. I'm open to wired and wireless I just don't want to end up with some cheap piece of shit that makes playing not fun.

Peter Thiel's Antichrist Antics Continue

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any weirder, Peter Thiel has announced plans to deliver a four-part lecture series on the Antichrist. These unusual events will take place at the Commonwealth Club of San Francisco on four days in September and October.

Thiel, one of the most influential tech billionaires of our time, seems intent on forcing us to discuss the Antichrist. He is clearly trying to make a point. But what is that point?

Thiel’s lecture series won’t provide any clues to the public—it’s off the record. He’ll be delivering his lectures to an exclusive group of Antichrist-curious tech acolytes in a highly-controlled atmosphere.

Here’s the thing: this isn't really about religion. It’s about power and politics, wrapped in theological language. Thiel has long been fascinated with political theorist Carl Schmitt's ideas about “political theology”—the notion that all significant political concepts are secularized theological concepts.

  • Itch.io now blocks UK users from viewing NSFW game creator profiles, though some individual adult games remain accessible after age verification.
  • The restrictions started in August and align with the UK's Online Safety Act requiring stricter age checks for adult content.
  • Developers lose UK discoverability while players can't browse creator catalogs, forcing them to rely on direct links shared elsewhere.

On any given Sunday, the massive American Dream mall in New Jersey allows visitors to hit an indoor ski slope, surf an artificial wave, ride roller coasters — or shop for a new outfit at dozens of big-name retail stores.

One of those things is a problem, argues a new lawsuit against the massive entertainment and retail complex in East Rutherford – and it isn’t the thrillseekers.

American Dream, the suit from officials in nearby Paramus contends, is running afoul of a county law that has long prohibited the sale of nonessential items such as clothing, appliances and furniture on Sundays.

Such “blue laws” date back centuries in New Jersey and were originally rooted in religion. But modern proponents say they offer a welcome break for locals from traffic and noise in a region near New York City that’s teeming with shoppers throughout the week.

Officials in Paramus, a major shopping hub that boasts three large malls and miles of strip malls, say nearly every other retail store in the county is closed to shoppers on Sundays.

That was originally the plan for American Dream when it opened in 2019, adjacent to MetLife Stadium, where the NFL’s Jets and Giants play. Retail stores would close on Sunday, while the theme parks in the mall would remain open — but a report by NorthJersey.com in January says retailers there had also been opening their doors the extra day for nearly a year.

So I recently-ish upload ST: Deep Space 9 into my Jellyfin (kind of love falling asleep watching it) and some episodes are doubled.

For example in season 4 Jellyfin fetched the metadata for the episode 9 (our men Bashir) and put it on the episode 9 and 10. Now after 10 the episodes are sync on the one before them. It slightly annoying.

I checked the naming convention for the file, seems in order. Tried to refresh the metadata, to no avail. Reboot the server, didn’t work. Only permit Jellyfin to fetch metadata from IMDB, nope

I’m at lost, any idea ?

Edit : what worked was putting [imdbid-ttXXXXX] in the problematic files name and refreshing all the metadata for the folder, in my case all the series
