This comment was in response to someone expressing regret about joining .ml if I recall correctly

Edit: I'm convinced all this guy does is camp out in front of his computer and wait for an excuse to abuse what itty bitty power he has.

Essentially, there have been two reactions over on grad today:

  1. I didn't vote, neither of the candidates were going to stop the war in the Gaza Strip, therefore, there could be no good outcome for the US, therefore I can't be held accountable
  2. I voted for a third party, which Republicans will have to acknowledge and respect

So as usual the level of irony and hypocrisy is difficult to grasp.

Here this one using Memri TV meme to do dunk on the French.

For those who don't know MEMRI TV is Israeli propaganda that's made to paint the Arab world in a negative picture.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middle_East_Media_Research_Institute

Critics describe MEMRI as a strongly pro-Israel advocacy group that, in spite of describing itself as being "independent" and "non-partisan" in nature,[5][6][7] aims to portray the Arab world and the Muslim world in a negative light by producing and disseminating incomplete or inaccurate translations of the original versions of the media reports that it re-publishes.[8][9] It has also been accused of selectively focusing on the views of Islamic extremists while de-emphasizing or ignoring mainstream opinions.[10]

First comment removed from asklemmy thread about who's good/bad re Israel/Palestine is apparently too nuanced and anti-extremist for snowflake dessalines. Ya gotta fuel the hate and extremism if ya wanna comment round tankie parts...

The linux ban was regarding a comment (pretty sure the OG comment was different) about Russian maintainers being removed from the linux project. Obviously you can't call out capitalist Putin's authoritarian dictatorship in the communist sub, because ML mods are pro-authoritarian and pro-dictatorship; not anti-capitalist... At this point I'm convinced most "tankies" are just PsyOps operatives.

Worth knowing that the defederation was because Tankies called for more Charlie Hebdo attacks on France, and later double-downed

I don't understand why extremists always try this tactic. No one believes it. Not even them. Someone should really research this. I think it's because they want to appear normie since they have to now appear better.

I also personally disavow any violence towards anyone. No one wins with violence.

So it doesn't matter who wins the election, but if Trump does win the election, all the people who didn't vote will be the ones who spring into action and stage a revolution, to stop the catastrophe that happened because he won the election.

Got it. Now we're clear. Thanks.

This seems like the place to discuss it but having a bunch of posts would get annoying. Maybe just create a single post where people can comment.

Meanwhile On Grad

Documenting hate speech, conspiracy theories, apologia/revisionism, and general tankie behaviour across the fediverse. Memes are welcome!

What is a Tankie?

Alternatively, a detailed blog post about Tankies.

(caution of biased source)

Basic Rules:

Sh.itjust.works Instance rules apply! If you are from other instances, please be mindful of the rules. — Basically, don't be a dick.

Hate-Speech — You should be familiar with this one already; practically all instances have the same rules on hate speech.

Apologia(Using the Modern terminology for Apologia) No Defending, Denying, Justifying, Bolstering, or Differentiating authoritarian acts or endeavours, whether be a Pro-CCP viewpoint, Stalinism, Islamic Terrorism or any variation of Tankie Ideology.

Revisionism — No downplaying or denying atrocities past and present. Calling Tankies shills, foreign/federal agents, or bots also falls under this rule. Extremists exist. They are real. Do not call them shills or fake users as it handwaves their extremism.

Tankies can explain their views but may be criticised or attacked for them. Any slight infraction on the rules above will immediately earn a warning and possibly a ban.

Off-topic Discussion — Do not discuss unrelated topics to the point of derailing the thread. Stay focused on the direct content of the post as opposed to arguing.

You'll be warned if you're violating the instance and community rules. Continuing poor behaviour after being warned will result in a ban or removal of your comments. Bans typically only last 24 hours, but each subsequent infraction will double the amount. Depending on the content, the ban time may be increased. You may request an unban at any time.
