IDK about other people but it makes me feel sick to the stomach being federated with such content. I don't really have any problems with Lemm.ee as a whole but I feel like having an uncritical Nazi salute on the network goes against everything Blahaj stands for.

I just saw a report on it and I've removed the post.

[–] StarlightDust@lemmy.blahaj.zone 59 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Thanks. My concern is being federated with such a community in the first place. It is a shame there isn't a community-wide way to block just one community from an instance.

[–] ada@lemmy.blahaj.zone 89 points 4 months ago (2 children)

I can do that. The fact the mods left it up for so long is reason enough

[–] TheLowestStone@lemmy.world 83 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Fun fact: That community's founder was banned from .world for spreading csam.

[–] buffysummers@sh.itjust.works 87 points 4 months ago

That fact isn't very fun.

[–] BlastboomStrice@mander.xyz 78 points 4 months ago (4 children)

I think we dont need conservative communities on lemmy, we can do without them

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 75 points 4 months ago (2 children)

I think modern conservatism is a sign of deficient cognitive ability and lack of empathy, but I don’t think we should outright block them. That’s the sort of thing they advocate. If they’re celebrating a nazi salute, sure. Let’s get rid of them. But we should be better than they. Of course, this makes me sound like a lib when I’m actually a Leftist, but I’m just trying not to discriminate.

Rightwing people: you suck for delivering us this living hell.

[–] SmackemWittadic@lemmy.world 31 points 4 months ago

The biggest issue is that EVERY community they've formed in the past has ended up as nothing more than an echo chamber for them to justify their OWN views and eventually censoring ANY form of external input.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 27 points 4 months ago (2 children)

maybe the key is forcing them to interact with regular people who don't like them, idk. i'm old and tired and getting older and tireder by the day. just force them to face consequences for their bullshit over and over until they get it. make a shitty community? disband the community. make a shitty meme? remove the shitty meme. be a shitty person? ban the shitty person.

[–] MelodiousFunk@slrpnk.net 18 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Best I can give you is resigned condescension.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 7 points 4 months ago

dorks, all of them.

[–] gandalf_der_12te@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

maybe the key is shooting them all to Mars.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Yeah i'm staying down here on Earth as well.

[–] Penguincoder@beehaw.org 22 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Alternative view points are good to have, don't want a echo chamber. That said, being a Nazi, supporting them, or attacking trans, LQBTQ folks isn't a difference of opinion ; it's a fundamental flaw of the far right, treating humans as less than such. That is not an agreeable stance.

[–] ImADifferentBird@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 4 months ago

Honestly, modern conservatism is largely indistinguishable from Nazi-ism at this point anyway.

[–] Brkdncr@lemmy.world 18 points 4 months ago (3 children)

I’m ok with conservatives that aren’t conspiracy-driven. They can’t seem to self-moderate though. Anti-vax, and odd religious beliefs that they choose to impose on others is where I would draw the line.

Lots of people on the AskConservatives sub reddit for instance are against a lot of what has occurred in the last month.

I don’t know how to possibly moderate a community like that.

[–] fadingembers@lemmy.blahaj.zone 23 points 4 months ago

I'm not. They're the ones outlawing abortion and trying to eliminate trans people. They're the ones that are okay with discrimination and bigotry. They're the ones okay with rounding up immigrants and sending them to camps. There is no reason to tolerate their intolerance and their ideology is based upon oppressing anyone that isn't male, rich, and white.

[–] dandelion@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 4 months ago

Are you OK with conservatives that are anti-LGBT+, for example? Conservative is an umbrella that includes a lot of bigotry, I'm not sure we should really pretend that is worth defending or tolerating, particularly with regards to the context of the pro-LGBT+ Blahaj instance, who hosts many people who are victimized by conservative ideology. Sure, conservative lemmy instances exist, but you are in the Blahaj meta community, and the question is how we should relate to those communities and instances that oppose our existence ...

[–] Heyting@lemmy.ml 12 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Conservatism is inherently anti-trans. I’d rather not have anyone on lemmy argue against my right to self determination.

[–] Brkdncr@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

A lot of conservatives don’t care about gender.

[–] Heyting@lemmy.ml 12 points 4 months ago

‘Don’t care’ often means that they don’t want to acknowledge our existence and thus block measures that make our existence possible like trans healthcare or anti discrimination laws. Effectively it’s the same as being anti-trans.

.world also has a Conservative comm just as disgusting as the .ee one

I don't know why neither has been removed, in both comms nearly every single post is well into the negatives haha

[–] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 18 points 4 months ago

Pretty sure a majority of .world blocks them or hate downvotes them.

[–] TheLowestStone@lemmy.world 10 points 4 months ago

I just reported that there's no moderation on that community.

[–] hungryphrog@lemmy.blahaj.zone 17 points 4 months ago (1 children)

There is conservative community? On Lemmy?????

[–] zaphod@sopuli.xyz 8 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Several, just not very active.

[–] Goodmorningsunshine@lemmy.world 11 points 4 months ago (1 children)
[–] afronaut@lemmy.cafe 7 points 4 months ago

The point of the fediverse is that they have to maintain server costs on their own and the upside is we are not forced to swim in the same pool that they piss in if we don’t want to.

[–] hungryphrog@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 4 months ago

what are conservatives doing on Lemmy anyways??

[–] RangerJosey@lemmy.ml 13 points 4 months ago (1 children)
[–] Chewget@lemm.ee 3 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Is lemm.ee conservative? I had no idea....... not sarcasm

[–] boonhet@lemm.ee 9 points 4 months ago

Less conservative and more... Allows different opinions as long as they aren't outright dangerous.

Plenty of left leaning people on lemm.ee, myself included. Conservatives chose to make a community here because they felt it was a good place for freedom of speech, which it is. If you choose to create a socialist community, you're welcome too. If you're a tankie and say everyone from the Baltics deserves to be raped to death for leaving the Soviet union... Then we do not welcome you.

[–] ExFed@lemm.ee 4 points 4 months ago

Uhh I'm in the same boat... I wouldn't call myself a "conservative" ... I just was looking for an instance that wasn't completely full. If there's some Nazi shit going on here, I'm out.

[–] QuantumSparkles@sh.itjust.works 8 points 4 months ago (2 children)

I really thought all the blahaj communities were heavily left leaning. What was the community?

[–] ada@lemmy.blahaj.zone 26 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

That’s not a blahaj community. It’s hosted on another instance.

In any case, the mods and poster are banned now, and the community has been blocked

[–] GeeDubHayduke@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 4 months ago

the mods and poster are banned now, and the community has been blocked

Huzzah!

[–] dandelion@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I believe OP is talking about /c/conservative on the lemm.ee instance (not sure if I can share this, not intending to brigade, and I am intentionally not directly linking there)

[–] QuantumSparkles@sh.itjust.works 2 points 4 months ago

Oh okay, because the way it’s formatted I thought it was a blahaj community and was really surprised

[–] beneeney@lemm.ee 5 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Lemm.ee admin here. Sorry about that, y'all. We took further action and removed the mods from that community. More context in my post here: https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/post/22091983/12982889
