My favorite dumb joke of all time is from Fairly OddParents:

Cosmo: The good news is I named my nickel Phillip!

King Gripullon: What's the bad news?

Cosmo: It's a girl nickel!

... Cosmo is so fucking stupid lol.

[–] samus12345@lemm.ee 13 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

So she's a trans nickel. Time for a new name!

[–] sp3tr4l@lemmy.zip 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Philippa, or some approximately close spelling of that, is a fairly common feminine form of Phillip in many languages, and it used to be in English as well, but largely fell out of fashion in particularly in present day American English.

Goes all the way back to Greek, then Latin, then the Romance languages, etc.

[–] samus12345@lemm.ee 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

But she might not want a name that reminds her of her deadname.

[–] sp3tr4l@lemmy.zip 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Hrm. Well... right.

Is ... the nickel acrually sentient at all?

Or is Cosmo just needlessly gendering non gendered things?

Like, if you can ask the nickel, then yes, do that...

But if the nickel is in fact... just a nickel...

???

[–] samus12345@lemm.ee 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He's needlessly gendering a non-gendered thing. I'm just being facetious.

Autism strikes again lol.

"What happened?"
"The new proton burped out a couple of leptons and switched back to a particle similar to the the old proton."

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 33 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The problem being "the proton" in this case means all protons.

Wanda: "Two wrongs don't make a right."

Cosmo: "But three rights make a left."

[–] JackbyDev@programming.dev 6 points 2 weeks ago

I wouldn't be surprised if that isn't a direct quote from the show lol.

One that always sticks out is:

  • Wanda: Cosmo was right??
  • Cosmo: One in a row! A new record!

Windoze doesn't even let me uninstall Edge for "reasons"

Meanwhile Linux lets me do whatever the fuck I want, to the point I've somehow fucking bricked an immutable distro.

Glorious.

Remember when FOP casually depicted mpreg in a children’s cartoon?

[–] _stranger_@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (5 children)

mpreg.

Was that abbreviation born of necessity? Is there some context wherein it comes up so often it needs to be abbreviated for efficiency's sake?

[–] chuckleslord@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Male pregnancy

[–] feedum_sneedson@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

I imagine that context exists somewhere on the internet.

[–] semperverus@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Its a pretty common fetish these days. Many women install Sims mods to allow it, for example. (This may also be possible in the newest game out of the box, I stopped at 3)

[–] Ziglin@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

It is possible in vanilla Sims 4. You can also now pick a sim's pronouns. (Though to be fair these features were added in later updates and the pronouns came quite a bit later I think.)

[–] Broadfern@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Sorry lol I’m an old. A lot of it came from some…”interesting” fandoms on tumblr and deviantart in the early-mid 2010s.
