Canada please just tax the shit out of them, they are nothing but leeches who suck everything good out of the world.

~~Canada's~~ Inequality is driven by ~~Billionaire~~ disproportionate wealth.

And the sky is blue.

Have any other obvious statements to make? Start taxing the shit out of billionaires. If they then decide to up and leave, put a 99% tax in that. You can leave anytime you want but your wealth stays here, we'll use it to feed and clothes and house the poor

It's not that obvious to most people. I only came to realize it recently, from Gary Stevenson's explanations.

I think most might be overstating it. Maybe it isn't in the forefront of most people's minds, but that's a reflection of who dictates what gets traction in public discourse. I'd wager most people over 40 who aren't zealous conservatives have figured it out.

If I could do one thing in life over, I would have decided to become a billionaire..

Water is wet, management is parasitic, any other world shattering news this week?

So many countries are experiencing the same thing right now. It's rich vs poor all around the world.

Could the whole bullshit with Canada and Greenland from the US simply be diversion? All designed to take focus from rich vs poor.

Should everyone just be paid the same amount, whatever that amount but based on the job at hand? One job can set a set price that pays every worker the same? No one less and no one more?

Are you asking or making a rhetorical point?

[–] rob200@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I was just asking if that was a possible solution people would be interested in. Not trying to persuade or anything. But I do think that or something similar could potentially put people on the same playing field financially. Instead of having a set few billionaires.

Ahhh okay. It’s one of those things that has been debated for a long time. It’s kind of a Star Trek thing if you ask me. Captain Picard gets paid the same as Ensign Slacker from the lower decks (both 0). Well, except Ensign Slacker probably has a tiny apartment in NYC (when not on a tour of duty with the Enterprise) whereas Picard has his luxurious wine estate in the French countryside.

Wealth inequality is driven by inequality in wealth. Hmm, we might need a study to confirm this.
