Call him Luigi
Showerthoughts
A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.
Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:
- Both “200” and “160” are 2 minutes in microwave math
- When you’re a kid, you don’t realize you’re also watching your mom and dad grow up.
- More dreams have been destroyed by alarm clocks than anything else
Rules
- All posts must be showerthoughts
- The entire showerthought must be in the title
- No politics
- If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
- A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
- Posts must be original/unique
- Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS
If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.
First 2 seasons of Arrow were like this. But yes I would watch the shit out of it. Make it a law and order style straight from the headlines and make the rich people resemble real life rich people.
… as a TV show, right? Right?
I'd prefer a documentary series.
The Luigi Files: Part 1
HansChristianAndersen.jpeg
Or whatever his name is.
in minecraft that is
Yes, nobody would be that insane to think otherwise...maybe even a reality TV show type of deal would be cool.
Mr robot came close i suppose.
Or we could free Luigi, and get the real thing!
This is why I now advocate for a Mamdani/Mangione 2028 presidential ticket.
I know he can't run for president right now but, maybe we can break the rules for the benefit of the people some day.
I mean......yes?
I'd vote for that.
Luigis Mansion: A TV show about a mansion filled with kidnapped billionaires. Sprinkle some inspiration from the Saw movies on top, and we've got a hit.
I'd fuckin watch that.
And also title the show "Luigi"
I honestly wouldn't. Not because I disagree with the concept, but because more on-point escapist media would just ensure that people will get their revolutionary fix without ever leaving the couch. We don't need that. We need people to be angry, to be fed up, to have no other escape than to fight for it.
Capitalism has done wonders at keeping us sedated by selling us our fantasies of change and better days. It's time we stopped taking those meds.
Actions speak louder than words, and all the shows follow is a script. Reality is much more interesting than anything Netflix or Amazon can show us.
Let's make it even more interesting, then!
I think being angry enough to kill someone may be the top.
And I think Luigi would have done nothing had he stayed submerged in escapism, is my point.
But he didn't do anything. Luigi and the guy in the security camera look nothing alike.
Luigi was at my house playing Xbox all day that day.
Like a gritty modern Robin Hood?
My thoughts exactly. Robin Hood, but he actually shoots those arrows at a good target.
Ya, like any major media company would go anywhere near that. Great idea though. It would get dynamite ratings.
So don't pitch it to a major media company. YouTube stars are born every day.
It would though, and that was why Luigi was such a danger to them. Ultimately they will keep writing stories that people keep clicking on and or reading. Even during Trump's initial run for president there were journalists to express that they love the fact that Trump was running because people would always read the articles about him. He was sensational.
Then the day came where Luigi committed justified self-defense on a public New York street. I bet there are more journalists that would rather be printing non-stop stories about Luigi because people would rather read them, as opposed to some dumb shit Trump is doing.
You mean a hero? That goes around defeating evil who would rather spend billions to ruin humanity instead of millions to improve it?
I think the word your looking for is hero
Not exactly that, but Leverage gets close. Stealing back from rich people who stole first. Except the rich guy rarely ends up dead.
Leverage was/is a pretty ridiculous show sometimes (it's basically just Ocean's Five as a series), but I still enjoyed it far more than Dexter
Yeah, the schpiel gets a bit repetitive after a while and you know the good guys will eventually win with some weird last minute twist, but for me the show is carried mostly by the characters and their chemistry. It's the reason I rewatch a few episodes every now and then
There should be a Poison Ivy movie of basically that.
Season 4 of You (kinda), but anything's possible for Dexter Resurrection
