"I’m sorry I even have to use this language, but I’m like, ‘Those are her nipples.’ And then I’m like, ‘That’s pubic hair.’"

Wow. It's so taboo to talk about the human body that you can't even say "pubic hair"? I am so grateful not to have grown up there and I feel so bad for everybody who did.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 34 points 5 days ago (2 children)

evangelical Christians are so sexually repressed from puritanical beliefs, it drives them into sexual deviancies in some cases.

[–] anarchy79@lemmy.world 13 points 5 days ago (4 children)

Biggest mistakes in human history:

  • Letting the Puritans leave instead of killing them

  • Letting them settle a continent instead of killing them

  • Letting them live after defeating them in a civil war

  • Letting them take over government instead of killing them

Just gonna point out that the Puritans who settled in the North like those of the Massachusetts Bay colony eventually evolved into churches like that ran by old John Brown. Northern Puritans were often times radical egalitarians who helped lay the groundwork for things like the og labor movements of the 1800s, eventually some even evolved into modern universalist churches.

I note all of this to say that Southern derived Puritans are little more than slavers under new clothes. It's all to reinforce the Southern derived social order and hierarchy, which is to say if Northern Puritans were subject to their congregation and their god Southern Puritans were subject to the rich and their bigotry.

Sorry just something that I think needs to be spread about, I ain't even Christian I'm a Heathen but Northern Puritans are distant kin so I feel the need to defend them. Also some of them were based and outright armed union militia which is just fucken great.

[–] halowpeano@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It's more the evangelicals, not the puritans. Evangelizing / forcing their beliefs onto others with no regard to other's wishes is a core evangelical belief.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

The Puritans literally came to the new world to start a theocracy. They weren't seeking freedom from oppressive British rule. They were seeking a place where they could force their extreme views on others.

Later on, their supporters in England actually took over, killed the king, installed their own leaner (Cromwell), and led England into such a clusterfuck that the English revolted against the Puritans and asked the dead King's son to come back and be King.

i grew up in the state.

it's honestly not so bad, most people are reasonable and not entirely insane. at least any more so than the rest of the USA. i've traveled all over the country and seen that 1. most places here are, for all their differences, pretty similar and 2. an oddly large number of people will, without any irony at all, ask dumb as shit questions like "oh you guys have houses? i thought they still lived in tipis there...", which is part of what compels me to clear up the image that Oklahoma is just some backwater. OKC and Tulsa are both larger cities than New Orleans, and by a non-insignificant population count too.

it's just one of those states where the republicans have a gerrymandered, fascist hold on the government and have for a long time. they win virtually every single election at every level in Oklahoma and control the entire state government, all appointments are basically made solely by the republican party here. they control what does and doesn't pass the legislature. yet, demographically, the republicans do not have nearly the super-majority that would justify this power. we've been prisoners of y'al-qaeda for basically the entire history of the state. and this isn't by any long shot the only state like this, it just might be one of the worst. they test their shitty fucking playbooks and "go-fuck-yourself-with-razorblades" laws out on us because it is a large market/population. a century and a half of being the american fascist guinea pigs has led us to be one of the civil societies here in the US that is in the most disrepair. we're near bottom or dead last for virtually any metric of societal health when compared to other states.

don't hate these people please, not saying you are but it's a common sentiment. i fucking despised the south and would belittle southerners when i was a naive teen bc of my resentment for their racism and general ethos. a lot of them are fucked up, but for a large number of them, they are victims too.

Ehh..... As someone who currently lives here, things got a lot worse after trump and covid. I would say more than half the population here are bigots and proud to lack any kind of empathy towards anyone who isn't exactly like them.

Also, the state isn't really gerrymandered. It's just that the only two slightly progressive areas are OKC and Tulsa, and even they don't usually vote blue for statewide or federal elections. Oklahoma is securely the most conservative state in the union. Imo people here are just shittier than anywhere else I've lived, and I grew up moving to a new state every 3 years.

I mean the state idolizes Sooners, which were basically white people stealing from each other so they could steal as much native land as possible. The culture here is just based on being proud, being an asshole, and taking pride in how much of an asshole you are.

Being that it is presumably a state owned company, they should know if there is a VPN installed on it. If there isn't, the guy would have had to use his ID to access porn sites in Oklahoma. It would be hilarious if someone like pornhub came out and said. On that date at that time he was watching this porn according to our records. We have those records because your state made them mandatory for us to keep.

[–] redsand@lemmy.dbzer0.com 45 points 6 days ago

FOIA his DNS records.

It’s almost a bad stereotype at this point that people who are obsessed with policing the sex lives of others have sexual issues themselves.

[–] Wahots@pawb.social 11 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Stereotype? It's nearly a universal truth at this point. Whatever they campaign against, they are doing. The list of people who are actually truthful and not sex predators, cheaters, bi/gay/CD or watching porn that they advocate banning would be shorter.

[–] QueenHawlSera@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 days ago

At this point I take every Right Wing accusation as a confession.

Why did I already know Trump was on the Epstein List? Because his camp accused Biden of being a pedophile.

If only the Democrats realized this. Sadly they're STILL blindsided by this

Most porn is much much more wholesome and tame than the pestilence, genocide, fratricide, infanticide, racism, sexism, and slavery that is recommended by that disgusting ignorant book

Conservative activists and sexual misconduct. Name a more iconic duo.

Go together like peanut butter and jelly. At this point if someone is a loud conservative I just assume they’re doing something they shouldn’t be, and are projecting.

"Woklahoman"

Is he in third grade? Lol

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Co-worker of mine thought it was a real big "get" to call MSNBC "MSLSD". I think he about blew a gasket when I told him I wasn't all that interested in corporate/conservative news outlets like "MSLSD", either.

It genuinely bothered him that I didn't give a rat's ass about trying to defend MSNBC and that I didn't get outraged by his constant parroting of something he picked up from Bullshit Mountain. Same went for him calling Rachel Maddow "Madcow". It's funny to watch how much these people calling everyone else "snowflakes" have meltdowns when others don't play the game they imagined was going to happen...we don't tend to be in a cult like these gomers.

So yeah, this douchenozzle calling a paper reporting embarrassing news about him "Woklahoman" tracks...

Cosmo, Wanda, I wish the people who most loudly demand we be Christians were Christians themselves. It's obvious men like this clearly do not behave as though they believe a God is judging them for their sins.

LOL

Carson said the images caught her eye during the meeting. “And I was like, ‘Those are naked women,’” she said. "And then I was like, ‘No, wait a minute. Those aren’t naked, surely those aren’t naked women. Something is playing a trick on my eye. Maybe they just have on tan body suits. … This is just really bizarre.’

“I saw them just walking across the screen, and I’m like, ‘no.” I’m sorry I even have to use this language, but I’m like, ‘Those are her nipples.’ And then I’m like, ‘That’s pubic hair.’ What in the world am I watching? I didn’t watch a second longer. … I was so disturbed by it, I was like, ‘What is on your TV?’ I was very stern, like I’d been a mother or a classroom teacher. And I said, ‘What am I watching? Turn it off now!’”

[–] anarchy79@lemmy.world 10 points 5 days ago

This is like the reaction you would get from Calvinists during the Victorian era.

These people literally still live in the mindspace of the 1800's.
