Can we not go 5 freaking minutes without hearing about Donald Trump?

[–] Akasazh@feddit.nl 3 points 1 week ago

If only he were removed from somewhere

No, it's a UK story. This is about the next Reform candidate in a by-election.

"But while some blockages in our biggest sewers can weigh as much as 25 elephants..."

The arbitrary size comparisons are my favorite part of these stories.

Got to make them relatable to the Muricans as well.

It should definitely be illegal for wet wipes to be advertised as flushable. Maybe it already is in the UK, but in the US it still is not.

EDIT: Maybe there should even be a legally mandated warning label about not flushing them.

Some of them have the ambiguous:

That's obviously:

  • Do not throw this in the toilet.
  • Please throw it directly into the sea.
  • This product can be used to attack Koopa Troopers.

they should be banned

[–] Nuerion@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

i mean to be fair they do flush they just fuck up a lot of shit after the fact

I would argue that for something to be "flushable" it has to be something the sewer system can actually handle.

I wonder if you could burn this to make a significant amount of electricity?

[–] wewbull@feddit.uk 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I don't want to think about the pollution that would produce.

[–] MouldyCat@feddit.uk 1 points 1 week ago

The most green option is probably to just sell it on the open market. Some takeaway shops would give you a good price for it.

LOL, my first thought! That represents a shitload of energy, but I highly doubt London has a way to handle that properly.

Can it be burnt as fuel?
