I once walked 20 Kilometers, then I was tired, so I walked back.

Good song by Fitz and the Tantrums

[–] Jhuskindle@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

It's maybe me I'm a big walker

[–] CodingCarpenter@lemmy.ml 3 points 3 hours ago

We have this guy in our community! All day every day just walks all over. I know nothing about him but he walks and mumbles to himself

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 hours ago

Everyday

  • everyday: mundane, usual
  • every day: daily

I think OOP is in the wrong lane.

[–] Peter_Arbeitslos@feddit.org 27 points 7 hours ago (3 children)
  • Has so much money he can walk all day without becoming homeless.
[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

The absolute best time for you to walk is when you're exhausted after working. Trust me, try it.

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 5 hours ago

Or, they already are homeless.

[–] nymnympseudonym@piefed.social 7 points 6 hours ago

You have very different walkers in your neighborhood than I have in mine

[–] Tudsamfa@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

Even shitposts are too much effort to make by oneself nowadays, huh?

Need AI to do even that.

Meanwhile my knees: AHHHHHHHHH

Not relatable? Just a me problem?

[–] crazycraw@crazypeople.online 18 points 6 hours ago

have you considered unaging ?

[–] HowAbt2day@futurology.today 1 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

Do you even squat, bro?

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

Lose a little weight, get good shoes, gentle stretches before walking, see a doctor to make sure you're not doing actual damage. Maybe try walking on dirt/sand/grass too, asphalt and concrete are rough on your body.

[–] TrojanRoomCoffeePot@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

It's not as bad if you walk 'off trail' in cities/suburbs. I'm convinced that a lot of the Runner's Knees has to do with pounding cardio on hard-packed Earth, asphalt and concrete instead of forested/green areas.

[–] Aeao@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

Beach here, my knees don’t hurt no.

[–] maltasoron@sopuli.xyz 2 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, I can even notice the difference when doing plyometrics on my wooden living room floor versus on the tiles in the garden (the lawn is very shitty and can't take it).

[–] TrojanRoomCoffeePot@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago

The lawn, I feel that pain. Field sports on a dry pitch is a little like doing it on stone once it dries out enough due to lack of rain, that shit can really hurt, even without getting tackled down onto it lol

[–] ThePyroPython@lemmy.world 9 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

I do love a good walk.

My two favourite are a beautiful hill/mountain walk in the sun with a light breeze to keep me cool or at night through a sleepy town or village with a light fog where the orange streetlights shine through.

Both are so peaceful, it helps calm my anxiety.

[–] The_Picard_Maneuver@piefed.world 8 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

Walks are so good for anxiety - some light exercise, a little bit of sun, time to collect your thoughts without screens or distractions. It's sort of meditative.

[–] ThePyroPython@lemmy.world 5 points 6 hours ago

Agreed. I can find it hard but I try to not use headphones to listen to music or an audiobook every time I go for a walk. I'm trying to get myself comfortable with my own thoughts and let them wash over me so my brain can eventually calm and relax without distraction.

Just let the walk itself be the gentle stimulation.

[–] TrojanRoomCoffeePot@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Don't forget that your odds of finding and petting the roving neighbourhood cats increases as you walk more vs. driving.

[–] rudyharrelson@lemmy.radio 3 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

And the potential for finding loot.

I've found neat things on the side of the road by walking around my home, ranging from brass knuckles to a case with 3 Nintendo Switch cartridges inside. I tried to find the owner of the games (probably a kid who dropped it when getting off the school bus) but was unable to.

[–] TrojanRoomCoffeePot@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

I like the cut of your jib. The real gems I've found were literally that, rings and earrings of varying quality/value. I credit video games for the habit, it always pays dividends finding random partially-concealed valuables on the ground. This doesn't even count the number of (rarely) full/half-full packs of cigarettes, which sometimes contain other substances from nugs to hash and beyond.

Miss long walks terribly. I used to walk everywhere.

[–] gnomesaiyan@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago

Walking zazen.

[–] Peter_Arbeitslos@feddit.org 5 points 7 hours ago (3 children)
[–] abfarid@startrek.website 2 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

My thoughts, too. The body of the guy might be generated, because no human being would draw side pockets on a t-shirt.

[–] CarbonIceDragon@pawb.social 1 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

On the other hand, drawing pockets somewhere because you just realized that the way you drew the arm means the hands wont reach the pants, and you really don't feel like trying to draw a hand, is something a human might do.

[–] abfarid@startrek.website 1 points 5 hours ago

Since we are doing hand puns, you're reaching.

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 1 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I’m not sure. There’s just no joke. It could be that’s the joke. Or maybe it was made by someone who really likes walking.

[–] Peter_Arbeitslos@feddit.org 5 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

And what's this?

And how the fuck is the text formatted?

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

A glimpse into the reality that AI has zero understanding of what things actually are, it's only a machine designed to make really good guesses. So good that it seems eerily "alive" at times, but that's just because we're dumber and simpler than we think.

It doesn't know what words are in images, it just knows how they're roughly supposed to look. It's gotten good at not just guessing a bunch of vaguely "letterish looking stuff" but it still makes mistakes. For now.

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 3 points 5 hours ago

Something I just read past, apparently!

[–] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

No, it's just not that funny.
