What do you think would be a more compelling sight to behold from the scale of an ant?

There are some very interesting and thoughtful replies in this thread. And yet i'm gonna go ahead and say tiddies.

[-] afraid_of_zombies@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

I thought about it but you know the experience probably would just ruin it for you. Human skin isn't very smooth way up close and I imagine the odor would be something else at that scale.

[-] FawkesGil@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 11 months ago

I see you're a man of culture

[-] russjr08@outpost.zeuslink.net 14 points 11 months ago

Traversing a motherboard sounds like it would be interesting!

[-] Aussiemandeus@aussie.zone 6 points 11 months ago

Yeah i have always imagined them as little cities

[-] Gamers_Mate@kbin.social 5 points 11 months ago

Just make sure it is turned off first.

The scene from Honey I Shrunk the Kids where they find the giant oreo is still something I want to experience for myself

[-] Sterile_Technique@lemmy.world 13 points 11 months ago

Fwiw, the recipe for the white stuff in an Oreo is just shortening and powdered sugar.

Make some of that, and a batch of chocolate cookies, and live your best life.

And if you're into videogames, buy Grounded - HEAVILY inspired by Honey I Shrunk the Kids, and also just an overall really well made and fun game.

[-] mangosloth@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Beware of spiders though

[-] Usernameblankface@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

I don't think shortening is Kosher, and Oreos have changed their recipe to be fully Kosher.

[-] Sterile_Technique@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Oh, I'm sure the official recipe has a whole laboratory worth of goodies in it - but the one you can make in your own kitchen: shortening to volume, powdered sugar to taste/texture.

[-] chunkystyles@sopuli.xyz 3 points 11 months ago

I thought it was an oatmeal cream pie, but it's been a long time since I've seen that movie.

The inside of a mechanical watch, or walking across the display of a computer laid flat

[-] spittingimage@lemmy.world 10 points 11 months ago

I want to walk along the groove of an LP. Explore a human fingerprint. Juggle sugar crystals. Explore a water drop.

[-] Extrasvhx9he@lemmy.today 10 points 11 months ago

I'd probably die but I would like to be in a garden

[-] kamenlady@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago

It will be a great sight, while a ladybug sucks the fluids out of your body

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago

Personally, I plan on being taken over by the cordyceps fungus, which will instruct me to go to a warm, wet place in order to grow its spores, then burst through me and kill me as the fungus eats my body.

[-] Extrasvhx9he@lemmy.today 5 points 11 months ago

A hell of a way to go out

[-] kamenlady@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

The first time i saw a documentary about this as a kid, with plenty of footage of poor Insects seeking high places, climbing to the top and burst those spores in the air in order to disperse them as far as possible, i was unable to sleep.

I just couldn't wrap my head around the whole ordeal and the kind of power such a fungus has.

I know, they are unable to do this to bigger animals ( for reasons i don't remember ), but for how long? If evolution taught me something, it's that it finds a fucking way or/and a way to fuck.

[-] SgtAStrawberry@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago

A truck, like they are huge if you are humansize, imagine how absolutely gigantic it would be from an ants perspective.

Other stuff includes, motherbords, insids of mechanical watches, really small toys, eyes of different needles, sand, oil paintings, small syringes, a water droplet on a flat surface, microscope samples, Lego sets and a movie at the cinema.

[-] JTheDoc@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago

How people get downvoted for expressing their ant choices is beyond me.

I'll save you with an upvote.

Do people forget it's only non-constructive / offensive things you downvote? Not things you simply disagree with lol.

[-] SgtAStrawberry@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago

I would like to know which one of my ant choices they disagreed with, we could have had a discussion about why.

[-] Gamers_Mate@kbin.social 7 points 11 months ago

Do you start off the size of an Ant or do you get time to prepare before being shrunk?

I would build a food garden first and maybe a mini treehouse on a bonsai plant.

Giant Cherry tomatoes would be great.

[-] livus@kbin.social 7 points 11 months ago

An ant nest, if they will let me.

[-] Gamers_Mate@kbin.social 9 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Good luck Ants don't trust Ants from other Colonies that look the same but have a slightly different scent. If you have a good Ant Disguise laying around you might be able to find what perfume they use and blend in with your fellow Ants.

[-] livus@kbin.social 4 points 11 months ago

@Gamers_Mate I've been pretty good to ants over the years so I was hoping they would recognise me from that. :)

[-] Gamers_Mate@kbin.social 3 points 11 months ago

@livus I see you are going for the Diplomatic approach.

[-] livus@kbin.social 5 points 11 months ago

@Bunnylux okay here's one: ants have hospitals where they treat wounded ants.

[-] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 2 points 11 months ago

Just crush up some ants from that colony and rub the resulting paste over your body before you shrink down.

Mica, sand, cds, other bugs, anything that has intricate fine structure.

[-] youRFate@feddit.de 5 points 11 months ago

Play Grounded, it’s great, especially in coop.

[-] Cyfress@kbin.social 2 points 11 months ago

Just discovered it after the big patch came out in November. Fun game. The OP can just find out lol

[-] shinigamiookamiryuu@lemm.ee 5 points 11 months ago

Being the size of an ant would make riding small helium balloons fun.

[-] planetaryprotection@midwest.social 4 points 11 months ago

The Grand Canyon! Must seem even grander to an ant

The inside of a Russian nuclear weapon launch facility. I would love to just gaze at it for a moment knowing that as long as I proceed slowly and carefully I can end civilization.

[-] someguy3@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

You should watch "Honey I shrunk the kids".

[-] HubertManne@kbin.social 1 points 11 months ago
