Under $90k and over 87 years of age.
Over 87 years of age is (part of) the initial group. It will be opened up to other age groups in the new year.
TLDR: [covers] Canadian residents with a household income under $90,000 and no private insurance.
No mention if this is indexed
This always annoys me about these. They should have a plan for everyone no matter what that covers two dental exam/cleanings and if you do both you earn like 100 in dental work credit that you can accumulate year to year. This would maximally incentivize maintenance which saves money in the long run. I think medical should be similar. Credits to get care that is normally outside of the system or something if you do your yearly.
What do you mean by indexed? Like if it adjusts for inflation?
I think that's what they meant.
~~If it's not indexed, more people will be covered over time, so it's not all bad.~~
Wouldn't that mean less people will be covered over time? If it stays at 90k and wages go up eventually then more people will be over the threshold
Fuck, I'm dumb.
Hey guys I want everyone in Canada to have dental care without cost of use, but I'm anxious about the sustainability of a program that pays for dental care through paystub deductions while extending coverage to retirees.
I think the Healthcare funding model in this country is already ill-equipped to handle the boomers retiring (thanks boomers) without us giving them dental care they haven't paid for.
It needs to be funded through capital gains taxes.
Capital gains should be treated the same as income, full stop. Why does capital get extra status over labour?
In theory it's to encourage investment in business. Not saying I agree with that argument.
Iโm very happy for me Northern brothers and sisters. USA needs to get it together.
Not so fast, cowboy. We still are getting it together, not outta the woods yet. This needs to be solidified before next election so PeePee CAN'T + WON'T + DOESN'T fuck it up and its locked in
I'll add that people who have all their teeth and in good working order tend to be mouthier and less self-conscious/deferantial in the face of "the hierarchy" cons so adore
