Ah yes, Canada, the famously European country that is a cornerstone of the European Union.

[-] WaterSword@discuss.tchncs.de 31 points 9 months ago

🇦🇺Outstralia (One of the most european countries of course)

They compete in the Eurovision song contest, close enough.

[-] Peppycito@sh.itjust.works 16 points 9 months ago

Calm down guy. I was just having fun.

[-] krakenx@lemmy.world 9 points 9 months ago

To be fair, the fact that Canada can't leave the EU was in the name.

[-] cheese_greater@lemmy.world 7 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Non-Canadaidate

[-] SuddenDownpour@sh.itjust.works 7 points 9 months ago

Well yeah, they Can'tada join us.

[-] Albbi@lemmy.ca 4 points 9 months ago

Do you know where Canada is?

I mean, it does own 100 hectares in France at the Vimy Monument, but that's not enough to be considered for EU membership.

I like how this list is implicitly aware that Germany is the lynchpin of the EU

For Austria it's actually ÖXIT and sadly enough it's a thing.

[-] ahriboy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 9 months ago

And DEXIT for Germany. I really hate AfD.

[-] PanPuszek@reddthat.com 17 points 9 months ago

It's not my original idea, but it definitely should be Polend.

[-] Darkraisisi@feddit.nl 12 points 9 months ago

Sadly we too already have a name for the Dutch (Netherlands) exit. The nexit.

[-] Verqix@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

At least they borrowed something from English for it, showing that being international isn't all that bad :D

[-] DogMuffins@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 9 months ago

Yeah Nethermind in this list is funny but never gonna make it for every day use.

[-] CAVOK@lemmy.world 12 points 9 months ago

Any other country seriously considering leaving the EU?

I thought brexit was this titanic success of hindenburg-esque proportions and about as popular as a fart in a lift.

[-] crackajack@reddthat.com 9 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

It's up to the people as always. Even the previous right wing government of Poland has rhetoric of leaving EU is which ignored by the population. Overwhelming number of Poles support to remain in the EU. Actually trying to materialise leaving the EU is unthinkable for most Europeans despite what these Euroskeptic individuals would want.

The only reason UK elected to leave was because they think they still have an colonies to trade with and can be self-sustainable.

[-] Akasazh@feddit.nl 4 points 9 months ago

The frontrunner of the Dutch elections (not yet the president as he's not succeeded in forming a parliament yet) is pro Nexit.

But he's said that he's not going to because we can trust him that his extreme views are set aside for now...

[-] mirtuevagnet@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Prime Minister. The Netherlands does not have a president.

Don't think (hope) he will be able to execute his Nexit ambitions, but they will take steps in the wrong direction for sure.

[-] moitoi@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 9 months ago

Adieu doesn't make sense in French. It's called Union Européenne.

People will use Frexit. The name speak for itself and whom is behind this ideology.

[-] rambaroo@lemmy.world 10 points 9 months ago

The meme is very obviously made for English speakers. I'm not sure how you're taking it this seriously

[-] Stamets@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

Bruh this is Lemmy. I dunno if you've noticed but EVERY meme post and joke post is filled with comments like this of people taking the joke completely seriously and getting whiny over it. Starting to just get pathetic.

[-] Peppycito@sh.itjust.works 4 points 9 months ago

Because this is lemmy. "Ackshually..." is this places motto.

[-] Capricorn_Geriatric@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago

We've already decided on Svejsan if Sweden would ever try to leave. It doesn't translate well, but that's part of the spirit I guess.
