Let me guess, you take young men with high testosterone levels and loose moralities, separate them from women, load them up with adrenaline and stimulants, and then release them on civilians during a period of intense chaos and confusion and what do you get?

Rape. You get rape. As it's been with literally every army in the history of humanity.

Take the nicest dude and train him for a few years to view the enemy as inhumane and there's a good chance they'll view the enemy as subhuman.

One of the most chilling quotes about war that I've ever read was from Kurt Vonnegut. (I'm paraphrasing but this was his general quote ... I don't remember if I read it or saw it in a documentary)

"During the war, there were two types of women. Women that had been raped. And women that were going to be raped"

I was thinking while reading, yes this is awful, but is this news? Kind of a water is wet statement.

It's always worth talking about though because there's a lot of disinterest and downplaying of it.

The charities for women raped in wars deal with a lot of problems like operations for incontinence, and women who have had a hole punched through from their rectum into the vagina and have constant infections and fecal matter dribbling out through it, etc etc.

It's often extremely violent and can cause permanent physical damage. But because it mainly happens to women and children, it's sort of hand-waved.

Except on oct7 apparently where not a single shred of forensic evidence of any rape happening was found.

[-] jeffw@lemmy.world 0 points 7 months ago

There’s often no forensic evidence of rape

[-] Linkerbaan@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

There's never any when the IDF refuses to investigate it.

And also when the IDF says they have forensic and video evidence.

But actually they come out three months later and say no jk we have no evidence.

No evidence?

https://www.vox.com/world-politics/24093631/un-israel-october-7-sexual-violence

It’s like the original posted article says… it always happens

[-] Linkerbaan@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

Indeed none. That's literally what the report said. After reviewing 50 hours of video footage and 5000 photos not a single instance of sexual evidence was observed. Patten said she was there to emotionally validate people not collect evidence. Israel has blocked the UN team that has that mandate. Because there is zero evidence and israel knows it.

Here's an actual breakdown of the report.

[-] jeffw@lemmy.world 0 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

Jfc some people are dense. What is more likely, that sexual violence occurred as it has in literally every previous attack like this in human history. Or that Hamas acted like puritans while committing terrorism?

Edit: there’s like one good point in your article (“Patten’s report functions as a distraction from genocide”), the rest is BS about not believing victims

[-] Linkerbaan@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

If there was any evidence israel would be screaming it from the rooftops and blasting it in 4k on some HamasUnleashedDotCom website.

Desperately wanting it to be true doesn't make it true. In fact israel has turned over every single stone for evidence and found none.

[-] jeffw@lemmy.world 0 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

I hope you never have to go through the trauma of rape while everyone screams “no evidence! People make this up all the time just to hurt men!” All over the internet. Your article literally says there were witnesses and victims shared their stories.

[-] Linkerbaan@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

You can thank israel for lying about rape and using it as a tool to justify their Genocide.

Also thank israel for intentionally "not preserving" any evidence of those fictional rapes despite womens rights groups screaming for it

By the way israels earliest claims were extremely graphic and had high claims of evidence. That women had "nails driven through their vaginas by Hamas" and that there was photographic and video evidence of this.

Patten has supposedly looked at those pictures and decided that a few blurred pixels with an incredibly wild IDF imagination do not constitute evidence for that whatsoever. Just a small indication of all the "evidence" the IDF made up.

[-] sujpr@lemmy.ca 3 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

If nobody made false rape claims, then we could trust everyone who says rape occurred.

Israel, unfortunately, has a history of lying to make their enemies look bad.

[-] sujpr@lemmy.ca 1 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

We're not talking about speculation.

We're talking about evidence.

Funny how you shared a link that wasn't actually evidence, and now you pivot to speculation while calling others "dense".

[-] jeffw@lemmy.world 1 points 7 months ago

Eyewitness evidence is not evidence? Do you know how many convictions don’t involve forensic evidence?
