Can any straight man here explain what they like and why they like boobs so much? Like, what makes them attractive and why? Is it the size? Shape? Or The way they jiggle?

Not straight, and not a man, but I just think they're neat! There really doesn't need to be a "why" to attraction, sometimes your brain just sees something and goes "yes"

You get it!

Honestly? I often ponder this. It's amusing when you consider how enamored we are with bosoms.

I've heard it described that "Woman is the most beautiful shape in the human consciousness." And that stuck with me.

My wife often catches me gawking and thinks it's weird but I'm just like "You're just amazing. All of you. Everything about you." I feel like an idiot because I can't explain what the heck I actually mean.

It's just hard to fathom how a single being can be so... naturally aesthetic!

Women are just awesome. As a visual artist myself, I totally understand the compulsion to depict cute/pretty/happy/sexy ladies all the time. Heck, some artists do this exclusively. Variety is the spice of life, artists, but I get it. πŸ˜‚

I think we're coded to enjoy rounded elegant shapes, but there's something enchanting about femininity as a whole, and boobs and butts signal "feminine!!" to our brains.

Also I'd say size and such really doesn't matter. I think the really fascinating thing is the sheer variety, to the point they're unique to the woman as an individual person. And it has nothing to do with biological essentialism! (Tiny boobs are just as good at feeding young as ginormous ones)

It's also a bit cultural, I think. They're so obvious, yet hidden in polite company. So seeing them exposed feels like you have an intimate window into this person's world, and you feel special for the privilege, I suppose.

Lol now I feel like a weirdo, typing this all out. Does that help? LOL

I have spent the last 12 years trying to convince my wife that I am not trying to trick her. I really do think she is that beautiful.

Life is hard and boobs are soft.

Gay woman

Small ones are cute and bite sized, big ones are squishy pillows. Regardless of size, they're all soft and cute.

Everybody likes boobs. They are the first positive thing we are introduced to in life.

The inprint is strong.

More or less an instinct I think. That is how I was able to tell I was starting puberty, that I started to imagine and want to see and touch naked breasts of the women and girls around me. I myself didn't have an explanation why, but that was now more than half my life ago and it hasn't stopped.

I don't have strong preferences as to shape and size. Small breasts are still breasts.

[–] random_character_a@lemmy.world 24 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

I think there's a similar attraction to all erogenous areas, but due to cultural reasons breasts are ones that are always covered and their uncovering signals intimacy.

Favoring big breasts is mostly a cultural thing with some links to biological instincts that I wouldn't give much weight to.

"Jiggling" transfers information about their structure and your brain can create a model on their "feel" without touching.

Humans are the only mammals with boobs that stay "inflated" without childbirth or breastfeeding involved.

The theory is that it's an evolutionary selection, and the hypothesis is it's an aesthetic choice that keeps reinforcing itself (a positive feedback loop) and now it's HotWired in our brains.

The way i personally see it though, just like how i like certain types of food without a proper explanation to why, i also like boobs.

There's also the idea it's connected to being breastfed as a baby which brings back all those warm and safety feelings with them. That doesn't explain why most women (I speculate) aren't as into boobs as the average guy. That said, I've met multiple women, some straight, who also found boobs very fascinating. So maybe they get the same warm and safety feelings minus the sexual attraction?

They are soft, easy to grab, and they belong to an attractive person's body at large, which makes them an amazing tactile experience overall.

On the looks, they greatly complement the hourglass shapes, which are very harmonious and pleasing.

[–] HEXN3T@lemmy.blahaj.zone 20 points 1 month ago

I don't know, probably for the same reason others like other things. Chemical reactions, probably?

[–] devfuuu@lemmy.world 20 points 1 month ago (2 children)

at the beginning there was only ass. when humans still walked in 4 legs, the sexual thing they saw in front was ass cheeks. then humans went and started to walk on 2 legs. humans evolved and developed basically boobs so they were at eye level and attract the males.

boobs are the cheap version of ass.

[–] GrammarPolice@lemmy.world 20 points 1 month ago
[–] SteleTrovilo@beehaw.org 19 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It can't be explained directly, by itself. They're part of a bigger picture.

Straight men are attracted to women on the whole - legs, arms, waist, face, chest, back, it's all good. Whatever force it is that makes us attracted to women, it's not something that we chose or decided. We just do.

Since boobs are a sign of femininity, they're attractive to us on exactly that level! They fit into our idea of what women look like.

All three of those things. On a subconscious primal level though it means nutrition for babies

[–] BenLeMan@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm not seeing a lot of mentions of nipples here. So for me, size is pretty much secondary. Nice, prominent nipples are sure to get my attention, though.

Boobies make good pillows.

[–] verdigris@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 month ago

The biological hypothesis is that they look like an ass on your chest. Asses are visually arousing for males for what I hope are obvious reasons.

[–] squid_slime@lemm.ee 11 points 1 month ago

Just something compelling about them. All shapes and sizes

[–] daggermoon@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

Our dumb monkey brains just like them. It's all of those things you mentioned.

[–] Aarrodri@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Firmware. It's not a logical rational decision. Years of evolution I guess? There is embedded code in our brains that see tatas and we go ape.

I don't know why. But I like small firm boobs.. Seeing their shapes through clothes is the sexiest to me.

I remember how I thought about this before I went into puberty though. I had no interests in girls at all. And I remember wondering when that would happen.

Then it did happen and boobs became very sexy. So I guess it's just chemicals in our brains/body causing it.

[–] DavidDoesLemmy@aussie.zone 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Boobs look like they're drops of water, just about to drip. So there's a certain anticipation there. Our brains are wired to predict where action and movement is going to be.

[–] StanislavP@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

That is the first time i've heard that. Not sure about it, but sounds like it could be true. Interesting nonetheless.

[–] BearOfaTime@lemm.ee 7 points 1 month ago

Why do you like chocolate?

Coffee?

Ice cream?

Brussels Sprouts?

[–] whaleross@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Because of biological programming. Humans are the only mammals with females that have permanent boobyliciously boobing boobies, so as per evolution it is no surprise that human males are going boinks for them. Size, shape, motion, who they be on are the mutual factors for any attractive body part, quite so also for boobs. They are cute when tight and jiggly, pretty when bouncy and cozy to feel up regardless of size, neat to catch a stolen glimpse and satisfactory to blblblblbl.

I don't know what kind of shocking reveal you expect.

because they are the soft warm and sweet examples of life

[–] gnutrino@programming.dev 6 points 1 month ago

Probably some form of Fisherian runaway over the course of human evolution tbh.

[–] Notyou@sopuli.xyz 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

All of that. It makes a mesmerizing movement that I would just like to keep looking at.

[–] Nemo@slrpnk.net 5 points 1 month ago

Shape mostly, but also texture, softness, and smell.

[–] SouthEndSunset@lemm.ee 5 points 1 month ago

All of what you said. Something about them makes them ace to look at.

Plus, boobs are boobs…big, small, saggy, perky, real, fake. As man’s reaction when a woman takes her top off is a good way to judge him….

[–] monk@lemmy.unboiled.info 4 points 1 month ago

We are a stupid neural network trained to detect fertile partners of a specific sex. Ever wondered why so many girls try to oversaturate, say, their naturally ever so slightly brighter lip color? Everything mass beauty industry does is taking male/female characteristics and dialing them up to eleven.

All to make our mating radar detect the gender from as many yards away as possible.

Being animals sucks. =/

[–] somenonewho@feddit.org 4 points 1 month ago

Obviously there is no one easy explanation here (as you can see by all the different responses).

I think evolutionary factors play into a general affection people have for boobs. They are humans first source of food and with it an extremely intimate contact. Also on a "birth readiness" perspective Boobs on a woman suggest that she can feed a child (just as wide hips suggest she can bear one).

There is something to be said about culture. Since boobs are considered "sexual" they have to be covered in "decent" settings (see also discussions about female presenting nipples on social media) which simply adds to their sexualization.

Also, in my sexual experience (Bi male) nipples and breasts (boobs/man boobs ...) are erogenous zones so playing with them (touching/pinching/kissing/biting...) actually is arousing thus they are "sexual" parts.

Thats just my two cents.
