British American Tabacco: $10 million

That explains why they took off the research on the dangers of Tobacco from the govโ€™s website.

[โ€“] klu9@lemmy.ca 9 points 3 weeks ago

And Altria ($1 million): Marlboro, Virginia Slims etc

Pretty sure Tim Apple of Apple Cook computers donated a cool million to Trumps inauguration as well, which is weird as Trump is trying to destroy gay people and Tim Apple is in fact quite gay.

https://variety.com/2025/digital/news/apple-ceo-tim-cook-donates-1-million-trump-inauguration-1236265079/

[โ€“] zaxvenz@lemm.ee 13 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

added to list, although from the article this was a personal donation from Cook himself, Apple itself was not expected to make any donations.

[โ€“] QuantumSparkles@sh.itjust.works 11 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

So is Peter Thiel but that hasnโ€™t stopped him either

so was Roy Cohn

[โ€“] StrangeMed@lemmy.world 9 points 3 weeks ago

In the article, itโ€™s explained why Trump did it. When Trump was first elected, he also maintained a cordial relationship with him to secure benefits for Apple. Is this something to praise? Absolutely no! But is it understandable? For me, it is. Tim Cook also made a statement defending Appleโ€™s core values of equanimity and equality, even after Trump halted equality policies in American companies. You should check what Google and Meta said instead.

[โ€“] ExtremeDullard@lemmy.sdf.org 48 points 3 weeks ago

Your list gives a much clearer picture of the enemy. Thank you!

Private prison companies CoreCivic and GEO Group each donated $500,000, potentially positioning themselves to benefit from Trump's planned immigration policies. GEO Group's executive chairman, George Zoley, explicitly acknowledged these benefits, stating: "We believe that the private sector will play a critical role in assisting the government in carrying out its objectives...The GEO Group was built for this unique moment in our country's history and the opportunities that it will bring."

Absolutely heinous

[โ€“] truthfultemporarily@feddit.org 22 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

[โ€“] Jhex@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

even better... go on a general strike now!... do the rest of the world a favour and take care of the rabid dog you let out of the cage

[โ€“] Harvey656@lemmy.world 20 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Fucking coke, it's the only soda I drink but not only do they support Trump, they dime out their own workers to ICE. So there's no way in hell I'm going to buy it again. Fuckin wack.

[โ€“] PaulBunyan@lemm.ee 5 points 2 weeks ago

[โ€“] 0ops@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago

Apparently they can take what they dish out

[โ€“] BigMacHole@lemm.ee 16 points 3 weeks ago

That would be CRAZY if some of these people who donated MILLIONS of Dollars to Trump were now in Positions of Government Power! CRAZY!

[โ€“] psycho_driver@lemmy.world 16 points 3 weeks ago

I wonder if he keeps whining about the CHIPS act because Intel didn't pay him his bribe?

[โ€“] biofaust@lemmy.world 14 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Biggest corporate donor: Israel through their proxy Adelson Clinic, run by Miriam Adelson

2nd biggest: Aluminum and Steel (which explains the focus on these material in the tariffs) Hendricks

3rd biggest: a 5 years-defunct aerospace company that has a paranormal webinar with their founder advertised on their homepage Bigelow

[โ€“] drthunder@midwest.social 1 points 2 weeks ago

Hendricks has more money than the rest of Rock County put together, it's fuckin ridiculous that we let this happen.

[โ€“] OwlPaste@lemmy.world 14 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

well shit... i need abbot glucose sensors ๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ˜ž

[โ€“] Squirrelsdrivemenuts@lemmy.world 31 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

You don't have to be perfect in a boycott. Avoid what you can, not what you can't.

[โ€“] oxytocin@lemmy.world 16 points 3 weeks ago

This is so important! Don't let it overwhelm you.

[โ€“] Sixtyforce@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 weeks ago

Exactly, do not let perfection be the enemy of good enough

[โ€“] blackberry@midwest.social 11 points 3 weeks ago

thanks for letting me know where my money goes. good information to promote, whether you want to support, not support, or don't care afterwards. information should be clear

[โ€“] turtl@lemm.ee 10 points 3 weeks ago

Never heard of Timothy Mellon. Seems like a delightful guy based on a quick internet search...

[โ€“] lysol@lemmy.world 10 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

Ericsson, the most corrupt shit company in Sweden. Yes, Ericsson is Swedish, yet is still in this list.

[โ€“] Sixtyforce@sh.itjust.works 8 points 3 weeks ago

Thanks, as a Canadian it's appreciated. I'll print this off after I look for any additions others mention and then post it on my fridge and Joplin.

[โ€“] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I did not realise that healthcare companies can also have their faces eaten by leopards, considering who Trump appointed on NIH ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

[โ€“] Isthisreddit@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

I'm sure Verizon is loving that $1m they gave away to Trump to have a multi-billion dollar deal stolen from them... The leopards are feasting fellas

  • Linda McMahon of WWE: $16 million
  • Bigelow Aerospace: $14.1 million
  • Laura & Issac Perlmutter Foundation: 12.4 million

Wild to see them high up the list - who knew Skinwalker Ranch was generating that amount of money? OK, it isn't, but still...

[โ€“] Emperor@feddit.uk 10 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Earlier I shared this with a friend as it pretty much underlined how weird things have got:

The US Department of Education intends to lay off nearly half of its workforce. The layoffs of 1,300 people were announced by the department on Tuesday and described by the education secretary, Linda McMahon, as a โ€œsignificant step toward restoring the greatness of the United States education systemโ€.

...

Trump campaigned on a promise to close the department, claiming it had been overtaken by โ€œradicals, zealots and Marxistsโ€. At McMahonโ€™s confirmation hearing, she acknowledged that only Congress has the power to abolish the agency but said it might be due for cuts and a reorganization.

I suspect most of us would rather take an unprotected chair shot to the head than whatever this nonsense is.

I presume Vince's pardon is already drawn up awaiting a signature.

If you fire everyone, you haven't technically abolished the department. There's still the cabinet level position getting paid, so the department still exists.

[โ€“] nuko147@lemm.ee 6 points 3 weeks ago

Nice list. I would like to know the European companies too. Like Spotify for example.

[โ€“] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

It's cool, I've never heard of most of them. It probably means that they're the owners of all the stuff in my cupboards though.

[โ€“] madcaesar@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)
