I'd say just about the same thing if I had lost a whole Boeing's market cap worth of stock value in just about few days.

You’d have thought a great business man would have foreseen this.

Trump inauguration date: Tesla 426 USD per stock

Today: 240 USD per stock

He did a little oopsie

Two comments:

  1. If you and Elon Musk are playing bad-cop-good-cop, how shitty of a person do you have to be for Musk to play the good cop?

  2. This sound a lot like Russia saying they want peace. You know the argument that"if Ukraine just gave up their territory, government and freedom there would be no war, it's their fault!". Same here, if Europe removed all their social security and pesky regulations so that US companies could do everything they wanted there would be no tariffs!

"Look what you made me do"

After the report the other day that Trump said Musk would soon be gone, with Musk responding that that was fake news, I was expecting Trump to be playing the good cop.

[–] Litebit@lemmy.world 28 points 2 days ago

Now he is crying over tariffs after losing EU market.

[–] cabron_offsets@lemmy.world 166 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Oh, nice, perhaps he should kill himself.

[–] Hayduke@lemmy.world 37 points 3 days ago

Triple distilled and smooth as silk.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 6 points 2 days ago

money and that will cause tesla to drop. Which will cause investors to sell and it’s a spiral un

he finally stopped taking ketamine for the first time in months.

[–] Cocopanda@futurology.today 47 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Dude is gonna get whacked by a mentally ill vet he got fired. Calling it. I know so many mentally ill vets that could only work for the government. Those people won’t find jobs and they will blame Elon. Calling it.

[–] CheeseToastie@lazysoci.al 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Oh god you're right. Research into lone actor grievance fuelled violence shows that people who are more likely to do it include unemployed people with MH issues and access to firearms. Musk inspires a lot of hatred and the news is saturated with him, someone already shot at Trump... it's gonna happen.

[–] 100_kg_90_de_belin@feddit.it 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Musk wears a kevlar vest and a kid of his shoulders everywhere he goes, you either Chris Kyle him or you get left with a handful of dust and a death sentence if you get caught.

[–] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Naa this timeline is dumb they'll just say its gods plan and blame atheist gay vegans. I want to be wrong so bad.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

You might be onto something with gay vegans. The democratic party leadership has been flailing around looking for a cause they can rally around without solving any problems for anyone.

[–] TransplantedSconie@lemm.ee 119 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Someone doesn't want tesla stock to hit $114/share.

[–] 1luv8008135@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago (2 children)
[–] baldingpudenda@lemmy.world 50 points 3 days ago (2 children)

He took loans against his tesla stock to buy Twitter. If the value of that stock gets low, The banks or whoever will ask for their money. They could also sell the stock to try and recuperate some of the money and that will cause tesla to drop. Which will cause investors to sell and it's a spiral until hopefully he's broke. Thata why hes crying about the protests, telling his workers not to sell their stock, and having trump and his propagandists say support the asshole buy a truck!

[–] GreyEyedGhost@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 days ago (2 children)

How is this affected by him selling X to his AI company? I know banks don't like letting you off the hook, but I also know banks do things differently for rich people. I figured that was the reason he did it in the first place.

[–] mxcory@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 days ago

This is something I was curious about. I figured there was some kind of financial trickery happening with that deal.

[–] baldingpudenda@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

according to Reuters , he sold it for 33 billion with 12 billion in debt. So 45 billion total, which is conveniently 1 billion more than what he paid originally. It also says that the banks that lent him 13 billion were finally able to sell. I wonder if the Saudis bought it.

[–] Vari@lemm.ee 1 points 2 days ago

His net worth is more in space x than Tesla

[–] AdamEatsAss@lemmy.world 12 points 3 days ago (1 children)
[–] Bristingr@lemm.ee 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Can he also be fired from SpaceX too?

[–] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] bitchkat@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Starlink is part of SpaceX

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 days ago

I’ll buy at $14.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Look at his smug stupid face.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

I despise him so much.

[–] DarkWinterNights@lemmy.world 58 points 3 days ago

Alternative headline: Musk pretends to be critical of policies he's endorsed and supportive of countries he actively interferes in the elections of

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 33 points 2 days ago

Confiscate his stolen wealth for social security and deport him back to South Africa!

[–] LaoisheFu@lemmy.world 35 points 2 days ago

Fuck off Musk

[–] Gudl@feddit.org 25 points 2 days ago

Go fuck yourself, elmo

[–] ms_lane@lemmy.world 30 points 3 days ago

Well it's a little late for that now.

[–] 30p87@feddit.org 31 points 3 days ago

Putin is not gonna be pleased, how dare his muppet not follow his word! An emergency meeting between Muppet #1-3 and Putin is in order. On Signal, in a group with Assange.

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 14 points 2 days ago

They’ll still hate Tesla almost as much as they hate you, Elon. They won’t suddenly start trusting Xitter or Starlink, either. Just shut up and go away.

[–] FaceDeer@fedia.io 17 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The problem is that Trump doesn't understand what "tariffs" are, and thinks that a trade imbalance is somehow a tariff. Trying to comply would be like Mattingly trying to trim his sideburns.

[–] dan1101@lemm.ee 2 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Yeah the US has a population 350 million which is one of the highest in the world. There are going to be trade imbalances because we will be consuming more stuff than other countries with much lower populations.

[–] LeFantome@programming.dev 4 points 2 days ago

I own a computer store. There is a guy outside that shines shoes. I pay him about $30 a year to shine my shoes. Business has been pretty good and I like nice shoes. He never buys a computer from me (says he cannot afford it).

Clearly he is taking advantage of me because we have a huge trade imbalance. Nasty, nasty guy. I am hitting him with tariffs soon.

[–] LeFantome@programming.dev 2 points 2 days ago

I think you mean money

[–] realitista@lemm.ee 13 points 3 days ago

Which is roughly what we had before he rode Dirty Diaper Donny into the White House.

[–] skhayfa@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

He said this in the far right political party of Salvini, current rival of the far right prime minister Meloni. Weird I thought they were loving each other, Did Meloni push him back?

[–] commander@lemmy.world 12 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Nahh. It'd be better if Europe placed higher tariffs especially on Musk owned companies. Ban them from government contracts

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 4 points 2 days ago

just sanction musk and his companies.

[–] HellsBelle@sh.itjust.works 12 points 3 days ago

I'm calling him Enron from now on.

[–] h_ramus@lemm.ee 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Well, I want ice cream and a pony. Maybe two ponies.

[–] CheeseToastie@lazysoci.al 1 points 2 days ago

I'll come on pony rides with you

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 7 points 3 days ago
[–] jlh@lemmy.jlh.name 5 points 3 days ago

Sure, let's start negotiations, you drop the tariffs while they're ongoing.

It will never work because the US will want to slash labor unions and Europe wants better product standards, but we can call his bluff.
