We need to ensure that we maintain the notion that an administration saying things like “suck it up” is never accepted as normal.

The memes are funny, yes- but the more this becomes a joke, the more we begin to allow for it because that’s “just what they do.”

That may be just what they do, but accepting it as commonplace doesn’t have to be just what we do.

Use THIS to speak your voice and don’t accept this administration’s attempts distract us by dumbing our politics down to memes.

[–] skuzz@discuss.tchncs.de 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They're so tone-deaf and under-educated, they have no clue that the things they say are not only lacking in humor, but lacking in any connection to reality, humanity, and they don't even understand the concept of empathy.

That administration and their remaining followers have no value for life of any kind.

We can't forget that.

[–] Geetnerd@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

they don’t even understand the concept of empathy.

That's all you need to know.

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago (2 children)

It can be both. Let's flood them with memes.

[–] refurbishedrefurbisher@lemmy.sdf.org 6 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

It has been proven over the past decade that memes have real political power.

That was a serious statement and not a joke.

Has he actually explained a plan to even "cut our taxes" because if I recall every tax proposal that's come up raises the taxes on people living paycheck to paycheck.

[–] adarza@lemmy.ca 43 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

gotta pay for the tax cuts for the wealthy some how--it all can't come from cuts to essential social services, or by increasing the national debt, ya know.

[–] Bob_Robertson_IX@discuss.tchncs.de 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The tariffs are going to pay for the tax cuts, duh.

And the tax cuts are going to pay for the tarrifs!

No wonder the pope had a stroke after talking to this guy

[–] TheBat@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago

I hope Pope willfully took an exit to talk to The Guy about this couchlover.

[–] ProfHillbilly@lemmy.world 60 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I am so fucking glad this dipshit can not command the cult of MAGA they way Trump can.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 46 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Seriously he has the charisma of a burnt chicken nugget at the back of the oven.

[–] Zron@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That’s why the pope died.

JD Vance sucked his last will to live right from his body.

The D stands for Dementor.

[–] painfulasterisk1@lemmy.ml 52 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Welp, time for him to suffer similarly. As a public employee, his salary should be $7.25/hr, and have $10 in his checking account.

[–] riffy@lemm.ee 8 points 2 days ago

Screw that! He should be put on SSI! $2k cap on assets & forced to spend a third of his income on rent or forfeit it. See how fun this economy really is!

[–] WeirdGoesPro@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Wait, you guys have $10? /s

[–] P1nkman@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Due to inflation, it's now only worth three fiddy.

Republicans and Trump Admin Will Garnish Struggling Borrowers' Wages as Student Loan Payments Resume

The Trump administration on Monday announced that it will resume involuntary collection measures against defaulted federal student loan recipients, including garnishing wages, tax refunds, and Social Security benefits and "other actions to help borrowers get back into repayment," as the U.S. Department of Education euphemistically said.

"Resuming collections protects taxpayers from shouldering the cost of federal student loans that borrowers willingly undertook to finance their postsecondary education," DOE said in a statement notifying the public that collections will resume May 5. "This initiative will be paired with a comprehensive communications and outreach campaign to ensure borrowers understand how to return to repayment or get out of default."

[–] crusa187@lemmy.ml 15 points 2 days ago

Taxpayers wouldn’t have to shoulder that debt if it were simply canceled.

I know republicans would never dare make it easier on students to learn, but, this argument is bs.

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 24 points 2 days ago (2 children)

It will be worth it when they fucking rebel. We are three missed meals away from revolution.

[–] emmanuel_car@fedia.io 18 points 2 days ago (2 children)

three missed meals

I thought it was 9, but I guess with intermittent fasting, it could be the same time frame

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Sorry, I guess I was thinking about cats.

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

My cat would be sizing me up after missing breakfast.

The first president of Estonia after regaining our independence, was once quoted saying "The situation is shit, but it's the fertilizer of our future."

The meaning is very similar, in that he was saying that the hard times need to be suffered for things to get better, but what's different between him and the current American administration? Well, for one, the situation wasn't shit because of his personal ego trade war, it was shit because the economy was shit in every ex-soviet nation for a time. It took time to accustom to independence and free markets. But most of all, he spoke from a place of respect, not one of disrespect. Him saying that was his honesty to the Estonian people. He didn't lie and say everything would get good quickly. This was also a man you could simply approach publicly and he'd answer your questions. Didn't need to be a press release and you didn't need to be a journalist or a celebrity.

What I'm saying is that dear Americans, your current president and vice president simply don't respect you.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 9 points 2 days ago

"God, I wish that I didn't have to meet with this Vance person."

Yahweh's finger curls.

[–] Wispy2891@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

[if] we pursue those energy cost reducing policies...

I see only energy cost increasing policies, the recent forced shutdown of that 800 MW offshore wind farm, no more land leasing for renewables, policies to increase water pressure (=more energy required for pumps and for treating the water), and so on

[–] GoofSchmoofer@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

Fuck you, JD

[–] AcidicBasicGlitch@lemm.ee 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

So what is the actual strategy at this point? They are being way too bold about this. Like I'm worried they have an escape pod that they're planning to hop on/fly away while they flip us all off and leave us stranded on a smoldering earth.

[–] andros_rex@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

The goal is to cause civil unrest, to declare martial law and violently put down the unrest. To fragment the US into micro nations, tech cities governed by oligarchs, as well as Christofascist Gileads.

It’s accelerationism, it’s been accelerationism, the weirdos on /pol/ and Mencius Moldbug have been pretty clear on that.

I'll deal with it, but could you be a dear and come show me how, in person? And no need to bring any form of security, half the people on this street are former marines, specwar navy, an army Ranger, and about a dozen former national guard. They'll all be here to ensure security of the country.

[–] Goretantath@lemm.ee 9 points 2 days ago

He can suck my fat unwashed cock instead. Fucking nazi shitstain.

[–] makyo@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago
