He should come to Germany and do that here and then we can hear from him from prison for the next 12 months and he will be banned from performing here for the next decade.

legit conversation on my friend discord last night

"hey did everyone see Kanye was on twitch?!"

"no, I didnt know that, why'd they let him go on?"

"oh it wasnt very long, he was only on there for like 10 minutes before he got banned for yelling heil hitler"

"oh..."

Last month, West made a video featuring him posing in a diamond-encrusted swastika necklace next to infamous white supremacist Nick Fuentes.

I have a good friend who is a jeweler, and loves getting an expensive custom job, which this had to be. You dont just pick up a "diamond-encrusted swastika" at Jared. I wondered what my buddy would do if he was offered such a commission.

And I realized that he'd take it, not because his politics (or musical taste) are in alignment, but I know that he would say "If he wants to pay me a ridiculous amount of money to help him make an idiot of himself in front of the entire world, who am I to deny him?"

The correct response to such a request is "No Nazi bullshit"

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 1 points 1 minute ago

I agree, I'd refuse it, but I can't judge someone who is self-employed, and needs to keep the money rolling in. Traditionally, artists have had to work for wealthy patrons they havent cared for, but that's the flip side of being an artist, and why the dream is always artistic independence.

He would have got away with it if he had a car company

[–] muusemuuse@lemm.ee 1 points 52 minutes ago

Wait are we turning twitch into club penguin now?

[–] skisnow@lemmy.ca 13 points 4 hours ago

The detail I enjoyed most about this is that he had fewer than 220 followers at the time of the ban. This suggests that in order for any details on this incident to have got out at all, a decent percentage of his fans in 2025 are actually just journalists waiting for him to do something stupid they can get an article out of.

[–] trolololol@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago

I read the article and I'm having trouble believing this is not the onion.

Brain damaged troglodyte speed ran a twitch ban. Nice to see that money can't quite buy anything.

[–] hperrin@lemmy.ca 23 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Current world record holder for Any % Twitch Ban.

[–] markovs_gun@lemmy.world 9 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

I'm sure joining and then immediately starting a stream with your cock out would get you banned faster

[–] untakenusername@sh.itjust.works 14 points 11 hours ago

only one way to find out!

In other news, Kanye still exists.

[–] TangledHyphae@lemmy.world 6 points 10 hours ago

I'm not even sure I've seen him on the news this year. Gotta stay "relevant" somehow I guess?

[–] jaemo@sh.itjust.works 6 points 11 hours ago

Relatable, and ya can't blame twitch. I want to expel refuse from my body too.

[–] Katana314@lemmy.world 40 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

I guess I'm glad Twitch took a side on that?

After Bezos went full nazi on the Washington Post, I have expected the worst of everything Amazon.

Even fuckgod lasted longer

[–] Charlxmagne@lemmy.world 3 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

As much as I hate Bezos, ik he's not as brave as Musk to be pissing his money down the drain like that. He ain't turned twitch into a state propaganda machine unlike Elon. If he did that on twatter musk wouldve done fuckall.

[–] SpruceBringsteen@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

I mean Bezos has pretty much turned the Washington Post into his own sock puppet. People just aren't as up in arms about it because he's not behaving like an outright Nazi.

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 5 points 9 hours ago

He prefers the direct approch of personally approving articles at the newspapers he owns.

[–] Fallstar@mander.xyz 4 points 12 hours ago

That's a skill right there

[–] HugeNerd@lemmy.ca 23 points 19 hours ago (3 children)

He can afford meds, sadly we can't force him to take them.

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 4 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

You can lead a Kanye to maintenence meds, but you can't make his dumb manic ass take them...

[–] TangledHyphae@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago

"You can lead a horse to water..."

[–] Case@lemmynsfw.com 12 points 18 hours ago (3 children)

Here I am missing my meds and really wishing I could get my brain chemistry back to "normal" but I can't afford it.

I moved across the country and had more difficulty than expected finding work, so my savings are tapped and my health insurance has not kicked in yet.

I'm not saying anyone should be forced to take meds that could alter their autonomy in any way, that being said, I know I do better and feel better when I have my meds. In life, at work, in personal relationships. I want to take them.

It doesn't seem fair... hooray for capitalism, huh?

I can't believe he lasted that long. This guy needs help.

[–] SirEDCaLot@lemmy.today 33 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago) (2 children)

The sad thing is, I think you are correct, without even joking. I think he literally needs some kind of help.

I try to keep an open mind always. So a while back he did a Lex Friedman interview, and I listened to it. For anyone not familiar, Lex does long form interviews of an hour or more and gets deep into various subjects.

I got about halfway through before concluding that there is something seriously wrong with West. Maybe he is just stupid (not as an insult, I mean like he lacks any sort of intelligence) or maybe he has brain damage or maybe he is just delusional. But you listen to the guy talk for more than 5 minutes at a time and you wonder what the hell is wrong with him.

For example, he spent a lot of time blaming the 'Jewish media' for a lot of America's problems. Lex repeatedly asked him for specifics, challenged him to call out specific members or leaders of said media for specific actions, challenged him to use his platform to identify bad actors. He had few if any specifics and saw no particular benefit in any specific call outs, in his world it's all a conspiracy and the whole 'Jewish media' and everyone part of it is all one and the same.

Furthermore, he spent a lot of time explaining why we should stop teaching history in schools. Said we should focus on science and technology classes and not waste time reliving the past. Lex tried hard to challenge that, even brought up specific non-partisan examples from history that presented useful lessons for today. It had no effect, West continued to double down on the position that teaching kids history is a waste of time and resources.

At this point I had wasted about half an hour listening to the guy, and decided he was simply not worth my time to listen any further, because he obviously fundamentally misunderstood how the world works, how human nature works, and had little or no facts or evidence to back up his positions. I concluded that any further ideas from West can probably be safely dismissed without much consideration, because his thought process shows no evidence of rational or scientific thought.

Honestly the best analogy I can think of is like going to a mental institution and listening to a crazy person. They will talk your head off for an hour about how aliens infected their brain or whatever, and the only thing you will get from it is an hour older.

[–] AlexisFR@jlai.lu 2 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago) (2 children)

The difference, someone like Mr West gets richer and more famous evertime he talk crazy like that.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 2 points 1 hour ago

No, he was already rich and famous, before all this (although he was always a bit loopy).

If anything, all this political and Nazi nonsense has whittled away at his fame and acceptance, and each time he opens his mouth, he loses far more fans than he gains, and the fans he gains are poor quality ones.

As for the money, he was already a billionaire, which is fairly difficult to lose once you have it. He has lost some of the endorsement deals that made him wealthy in the first place, but those are gone, so he isn't stacking up cash any longer, just draining it. Its just that with billions to start with, it will take a while for it to get low enough to feel it.

Bottom line: Every time he pulls a stunt like this, its a net loss for him, not a gain.

[–] SirEDCaLot@lemmy.today 1 points 1 hour ago

And I think that says more about everyone else than it does about Mr West.

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 9 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

His interview on Letterman’s Netflix show was it for me. He kept whipping up these meaningless word salads that may sound profound to some but it just came across as mania to me

[–] TangledHyphae@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

He's probably got dozens of examples that could be codified via the DSM-5 at this point.

[–] cupcakezealot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 18 hours ago

damn too bad he couldn't make it long enough to debate hasan

[–] Sorgan71@lemmy.world 3 points 14 hours ago

Now its I think 1 man should have all that power

[–] fossilesque@mander.xyz 29 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

I'm sure he will do well on Kick, though.
