Is that Thomas from the channel Bogensportwelt?

[–] Marzanna@scribe.disroot.org 7 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

12 years ago? But I haven't finished GTA IV yet. Time goes so fast :(

Probably I will play it only when I retire…

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 7 points 6 hours ago

You expect to retire? Ooooh, fancy!

I'm still salty that Rockstar seemingly broke GTA V for Linux on purpose. I poured hours into Online and loved the Community I found, so it's a real shame they shut out Linux and Steam Deck users for good by adding BattleEye without Linux support. I was pretty much done with the game by then, but that move solidified my personal boycott of Rockstar.

Online ist dead. 5 mins in and I'm getting headshots from a guy across the map with a K:D of 3000:1. Everything online costs real money or endless grind. Waiting for 15 mins in a lobby, only that the host logs out 2 mins into the mission.

Man I remember this photo. Bought V for 360, beat it and haven't touched it since. After Gay Tony and The Lost and Damned I waited for a story expansion that never came.

You mean you didn’t buy it four more times for various platforms over the years? Wow, that’s impressive 👏 Do you do that with all games?

[–] But_my_mom_says_im_cool@lemmy.world 39 points 16 hours ago (5 children)

Meanwhile Skyrim came out the week my daughter was born, and she’s in high school now. We still don’t have a new elder scrolls

[–] drath@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Don’t you put that evil on me!

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 16 points 16 hours ago

No.. no that's impossible... fuck. 14 years, huh? I remember it was 11/11/11 and there were ads for it on city buses, and I thought "wow i guess video games are mainstream now"

[–] OhVenus_Baby@lemmy.ml 2 points 11 hours ago

Its been that long 😅 no way

I've lived in the same GTA house longer than I've lived in any real home.

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 6 points 15 hours ago

The cars I own in GTA V I’ve had longer than the current car that’s sitting in my driveway.

I think GTA 6 will be an outstanding game, but I also think it will be Rockstar's greediest release to date. I will make sure to consider everything before I buy it.

[–] maxwells_daemon@lemmy.world 17 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

As greedy as GTA V was with its multiplayer, Rockstar has a history of releasing a good single player base game before they start with that, and looking as GTA VI leaked map, I don't see that changing now. It'll definitely be nothing more than a single player experience for me though.

Plus, were might have to wait one or two years to play it on PC, especially on Linux, so there's a lot of time for considerations...

[–] timbuck2themoon@sh.itjust.works 2 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

I guess I don't understand. I got V and paid literally nothing past that.

The experience was great. No one has to buy shark cards or whatever the hell they are.

The problem with V for me was that they released content for GTA Online for years and completely ignored singleplayer. So many heists, weapons, vehicles, outfits, and game mechanics that would have been awesome to try solo, but were only available with a damn internet connection and in a world with other players. Thankfully mods fixed some of that. But it's not the same because you mostly have to spawn things in with a cheat menu.

I don't even care about GTA 6 anymore. It's just going to be a grift anyway.

[–] Nurse_Robot@lemmy.world 53 points 21 hours ago (7 children)

Damn we got FenderStratocaster not caring about GTA6 before we got GTA6

Why is this type of comment so popular on Lemmy? We are supposed to hate absolutely anything here for some reason.

[–] bvoigtlaender@feddit.org 1 points 7 hours ago

Don't get it either, maybe it also something to do with lemmys demographic being older. ( I believe that is the case with Mastodon vs. Twitter ) Sure it is sad that the planed single-player content was scraped for multiplayer ( even though i had lots of fun with the multiplayer as well, at least in its early days. ) But why crying about VI when it hasnt been released yet? Just see when it comes out...

6 is never going to live up to the hype and will be riddled with micro transactions and GaaS shoved up its ass.

Stop paying attention to what the big corporations are pumping out. Go play something made my people that give a shit about the game and not the “potential revenue” it might create.

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 2 points 7 hours ago

The multiplayer will be like that.

But I'm not here for that, and Rockstar and Naughty Dog are in the "haven't let me down yet" club.

I pick up GTA V as an Epic store free game of the week. It was the gateway drug the sent me down the dark and seedy parth of collecting every free Epic game for evermore. I have Hundreds of games I will never play but I keep on collecting them. It is my vice, my drug.

[–] Echolynx@lemmy.zip 2 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Digital hoarding! Welcome to the club.

[–] ook@discuss.tchncs.de 0 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Free games from epic games store is NOT hoarding. You don't really own them. The minute epic decides they are done with that store, you are out of luck and all your games.

Getting free games via Amazon Prime from GOG however would be actual digital hoarding, since you can download and save the installer of every game there.

[–] nevetsg@aussie.zone 2 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Oh, I get those ones as well and...

Tomorrow is free game day!!

[–] ook@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 6 hours ago

Me too, don't have prime currently so I am always looking out at the free games and giveaway communities if someone is sharing.

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 19 points 19 hours ago

It's a fantastic documentary; as an LA native, I recommend playing through the story to better understand our diverse culture of shallow rich folks, inner city gents, and meth-addled drug countrymen.

In fact, pirate it to truly honor my culture. Lol

[–] Ganbat@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 18 hours ago

Gotta love Steven Ogg.

Keep in mind that GTA V released in the PS3 - which is now considered a retro console.

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 7 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago) (2 children)

I refuse to entertain the idea of PS3 being retro until at least next year, when it turns 20. Now you might say "okay then, GTA V also came out on Xbox 360, which turns 20 in about 2 months" to which I say... get off my lawn!

Last GTA I played was vice city, I think that was on the PS1.

[–] ZC3rr0r@lemmy.ca 6 points 16 hours ago

For some reason this made me feel much older than knowing GAT V launched 11 years ago. I grew up with an NES.
