I want Brennan to be a prisoner because the monologues about every injustice would be incredible. And make Izzy a guard just for shits.

[-] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 5 points 5 months ago

Hey! You call this slop? Real slop has got chunks in it! This is more like gruel! And this Chateau le Blanc '68 is supposed to be served slightly chilled! This is room temperature! What do you think we are, animals?

[-] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 5 points 5 months ago

Any time they need to sell some more merch they just get Brennan on an episode of Game Changer.

[-] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 2 points 5 months ago

Um, Actually... there's a better show to get Brennan on

[-] Croquette@sh.itjust.works 3 points 5 months ago

Gamechanger has more soundbites than Um actually.

He's good in both of them, but for marketing purposes, I prefer Gamechanger/ Make some noise

[-] psmgx@lemmy.world 19 points 5 months ago

Milgram was about as scientific as a game show, too...

[-] DrBob@lemmy.ca 4 points 5 months ago

Milgram was rock solid. Zimbardo was a hack.

[-] GabrielBell12fi@lemmy.world 16 points 5 months ago

So now one else is going to comment on the fact the text just stops halfway through a wo

[-] Ephera@lemmy.ml 24 points 5 months ago

It's basically like an ellipsis. The punchline has been delivered, that this "game" is just imprisonment, but to actually describe imprisonment, you'd need a lot more sentences.

It is interesting, that it doesn't use "...".
I guess, you'd write "..." when a thought is somewhat complete, whereas here, it's specifically a run-on sentence that's being cut off.

[-] DPRK_Official@lemmy.world 22 points 5 months ago

The punchline goes a bit further than just imprisonment, see the Stanford Prison Experiment

[-] rasensprenger@feddit.de 2 points 5 months ago

I think this is called aposiopesis

Let's rotate das board!

[-] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 6 points 5 months ago

Welcome to the milgram episode!

[-] BottleOfAlkahest@lemmy.world 12 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

Stanford prison experiment was Zimbardo. Milgrim was the shocking people experiment.

Edit: I apparently talk about pilgrims enough that my autocorrect thought that was what I meant

[-] DrBob@lemmy.ca 4 points 5 months ago

Stanley Milgram. He was also responsible for the "Small World" hypothesis that yielded six degrees of separation.

[-] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 1 points 5 months ago

True, my brain farted. That being said, it still kinda works

[-] BlackPenguins@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago

Also an American Dad episode.

[-] NickwithaC@lemmy.world 4 points 5 months ago

There's actually a UK show called Epic Game Show where it's a different gameshow format each episode.

[-] WR5@lemmy.world 26 points 5 months ago

This is taking the intro text from Gamechanger, a game show from Dropout (what used to be called College Humor). They have a YouTube channel, but I believe Dropout is its own network for different shows now and not just YouTube.

[-] BottleOfAlkahest@lemmy.world 22 points 5 months ago

They have their own paid service now (dropout.tv). It's about $5 a month. They have a great DnD live play show called Dimension20 if that's you're thing. They have some other shows too like Game Changer, play it by ear (like whose line), no laugh newsroom, dirty laundry (people try to guess each other's secrets), um, actually (a show where contestants make pedantic corrections about nerd stuff), and a couple others.

They have some scripted stuff but a lot of their shows rely, in full or in part, on improv. So if improvs not your thing then dropouts probably not for you.

[-] frickineh@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago

Also, Very Important People, which I have to mention as a full on Vic stan. I thought Brennan was the love of my life, but Vic is working on usurping him. I love an elderly British man in a brown suit.

[-] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 2 points 5 months ago

Vic was amazing on Gamechanger asking Sam for money.

[-] frickineh@lemmy.world 1 points 5 months ago

They're a lunatic on that show. Climbing on the podium killed me.

[-] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 4 points 5 months ago

Dropout (what used to be called College Humor)

Couldn't afford tuition?

[-] wander1236@sh.itjust.works 9 points 5 months ago

This is a reference to Dropout's Game Changer.

[-] senkora@lemmy.zip 6 points 5 months ago

In one episode of GameChanger, the host mentions a few others that they weren’t aware of when the intro text was written: Taskmaster (which is awesome) and Ellen’s Game of Games.

[-] RebekahWSD@lemmy.world 4 points 5 months ago

Taskmaster is the best, I binged it last summer, and I'm sad the new season is over soon!

[-] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 1 points 5 months ago

For those unaware Taskmaster has a YouTube channel where you can watch full seasons.

[-] olicvb@lemmy.ca 2 points 5 months ago

First thought was Gmod's "Jailbreak" maps. Good times

[-] HobbitFoot@thelemmy.club 1 points 5 months ago

They have already imprisoned players for about an hour already.
