He also said "no more discussing politics, goodbye" as if it's not a question of morals, just politics.

I don't think the sadness of losing his son will be stronger than his hatred of people who are darker skinned than he is.

Yes it does. Apparently, when he was younger (until 9/11), he was a liberal. Then he went down the conservative talk radio pipeline (I also listened as a kid) and we see where that always goes.

It's a shame they'll close the USDA at some point because they don't give a fuck about anyone.

Upton Sinclair will roll in his grave

The lack of Medicare will do that eventually. He lives in a deep red state, so.

His job is also in the health industry, so that probably will go wrong as well.

Today I did it. I tried one last time to get through to him. He's a Jew. I showed him a verse from the bible (Leviticus 19:33) that says to relate to a foreigner like one of your own, as we were foreigners in egypt. He doesn't care, tried to make up semantics about why It doesn't mean that.

I showed him pictures of the Everglades Concentration Camp and how they're selling merchandise, and how this is what the Nazis started with. He called me a hysterical lefty and told me "you must be the most pleasant person in the room and know everything".

I blocked him after that. It crushes me to block one of the pillars of my life from my childhood, but I can't associate with a fucking hypocrite or a fucking nazi supporter. He's 60, when they cut medicare for him, I hope my sister is ready to go bankrupt paying for his medical care, because he voted for this, not me.

If Americans were doing "something", DC would be burning to the ground already like in 1812. The French would have destroyed Paris by now. They have for much less.

Not as much brain damage as any MAGAt.

The bike is pretty new, should Lubricate it again just in case?

Thank god I have a ton of free time. I love cycling, it's so much fun and it's 10x easier for me than running.

If it matters in terms of w/kg, I weigh around 85KG.

Is 110-120W okay for around 2 hours?

Ive researched a power meter, but I thought that for now, a cadence meter would be more helpful.

Besides the vibration issue, did you notice anything else like poor wet road performance, stuff like that?

Today I went back out to try another 20 miler on my XC mountain bike after using the tips y'all gave me. I was around 2.3 km short of a 20 miler, so a little more than a mile, but that doesn't matter too much.

Tips I tried:

  • Aired up my tires by 10-15 PSI (Now at 50 in the front, 55 in the back.
  • Fixed my handlebar sweep (I had installed them backwards before...what can I say, it was my first time building a bicycle 😅)
  • Focused more on cadence than easier peddling - I.E instead of going to a low gear up a large hill and tiring my legs out by spinning, I kept it in a higher gear, pushing my cadence down a bit, but both getting me up the hill faster, and keeping my HR down.
  • rode on the road more as opposed to the sidewalks to avoid potholes and obstacles.

Things to consider:

  • I paused my smartwatch on stop lights, water breaks, pedestrian stop lights, and while I ate a snack.
  • There were three rather large hills on this route I took and one pretty steady climb upwards. The last two of these hills would have been impossible for me to climb, as they were almost a kilometer long and just too steep, so I put my smart watch on pause for these hills as well.

Things I'm planning to do in the near future:

  • going to buy myself some semi-slick tires: specifically, the Kenda K908. They seem to be a decent budget option, but if y'all have any other suggestions, I'd be open to hearing them!

Anyway, now for my results.

I don't know if these stats are more in line with what everyone else is getting, considering I paused on stop lights and 2 hills, but I would say I'm perfectly happy with a result like this.

Thank you so much to everyone who gave advice and help!

Today I did my first 20 mile (33km) ride on my hardtail XC bike. I learned how to ride a bike about 1.5 months ago, but I've been riding pretty consistently since I learned. I ride exclusively in the city, it's a very walkable city, but the paths aren't always the best. I did 33km in 2 hours 53 minutes, not including breaks for water or to eat.

I see people saying that 10MP/H (16KM/H) average is a good average to shoot for, but i can't even get my average above 7.1MPH (11.5KM/H), even on shorter rides. What am I doing wrong here? How are people going so freaking fast on bikes in cities?

Gggg

According to SD1One’s video (not the one I linked), driving mechanics are simplified (no collision, winch only on scout vehicles, no fuel).

UI looks pretty bad. I hope they’ll be changing a lot of this stuff.

I have a medical malpractice annuity that pays out every month and goes up 2% compounded every year. I live in another country where cost of living is way lower than in the US and am worried that rapid inflation in the US or just overall instability will lead my annuity to be practically useless. Are these worries baseless?
