If I’m giving her the absolute benefit of the doubt, it just feels like she was an uneducated conservative parent who fell for Trump, and only just lately has she actually woken up to what he’s about.

It’s probably not as good as this though.

[–] Tm12@lemmy.ca 91 points 1 week ago (4 children)

I think she’s distancing herself from anything Epstein while she still can.

[–] whiwake@lemmy.cafe 81 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Right. I think she’s putting her money on Trump failing so she can run for president and say “see, I stood up”

Which is a brilliant move, if project 2025 fails.

[–] nymnympseudonym@piefed.social 49 points 1 week ago (3 children)

If she splits the Vance vote then she will be doing the Lord's Work

[–] whiwake@lemmy.cafe 35 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I cannot actually imagine him doing very well in an election either way.

[–] krashmo@lemmy.world 17 points 1 week ago (7 children)

I bet you would have said the same thing about Trump in 2016 and yet here we are. Attempting to understand the thought process of inherently irrational people is a losing battle.

[–] zbyte64@awful.systems 7 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Nah, when Trump won the nomination in 2016 I knew we were cooked. Vance doesn't have the same appeal. He's got the "owning libs" part down but his humor lacks a broader appeal, unlike Trump.

[–] reddig33@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

Vance has “the machine” behind him though. He was Thiel’s pick.

He may not need an election any more than Putin does.

I think she was a true believer who finally woke up to the fact that Trump and his lackeys are doing everything they can to prevent disclosure of the Epstein files. And that was like her main issue.

Let's be very clear: she's a massively racist bootlicker, this is not a new leaf she turned over, it's fucking around and finding out.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago

I think part of it is that she's like every Confederate ever, on nearly every issue. It's a trope for a reason - unless it affects them or someone very close to them, they don't give a fuck. So one of their kids gets pregnant while a teen, or one of their kids comes out, etc....when it comes to the health insurance, it's because her kids are hitting the 26 years mark.

If she can see the other stuff, that's just icing on the cake, and I'll take it. I mean the tariffs are probably Taco manipulating the market. It sickens me that someone like him can just brazenly enrich himself with the market manipulation, the grifting, and things like crypto. I guess Marj got sick of it, too, although I have to admit I'm surprised about it. My cynical self wonders if it's because of some similar selfish reason the Confederates are known for. Still, the outcome is the same....

[–] crusa187@lemmy.ml 13 points 1 week ago

I think this is the case as well. Hers could be a valuable perspective for helping others to break free of their own trump derangement trance. Hope it spreads far and wide.

[–] bcgm3@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I like to think she was just some lady who got hit on the head by a falling coconut, and that turned her into the cartoon character she was when we all met her, and since then she recently got hit by another coconut and now this is who she is.

She wants a shitty America that conforms to her way of thinking. Problem is that trump is making it hard for her by making it hard on her constituents, and her ratings have been falling, so maybe this is all just self-preservation.

[–] angstylittlecatboy@reddthat.com 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I think she's simply a true believer, and all the other MAGA politicians are grifters; I think she has closer genuine beliefs to what most civilian MAGAs believe than the others within the government.

I don't want her in power, but I'd take her over the grifters.

MAGA loves MTG. She's positioning herself to take over after Trump dies. She basically needs to prepare ammunition to attack other contenders with.

[–] neidu3@sh.itjust.works 31 points 1 week ago (3 children)

She could always go all out on a wedge issue: Release the Epstein files.

[–] Gerudo@lemmy.zip 17 points 1 week ago

To be fair, she has kept on it, although just a bit quieter the last couple of weeks.

[–] mercano@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

She is one of the three Republicans who have signed the discharge petition to force a vote on bill to release the Epstein files. (Bobert is another one, go figure.)

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 8 points 1 week ago

She did exactly that.

Who else is taking bets that soon a "leftest trans Antifa" will shoot at her with bullets "engraved" with marker that say "anti-anti-crypto" and "anti-anti-pedophile"?

[–] krooklochurm@lemmy.ca 39 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It is so strange to keep stumbling across things this dumb cunt says that I agree with.

What timeline are we living in where MTG is actually starting to talk sensibly about some of the bull-puckey that Trump is pulling?

Don't get me wrong - she still is not a good person, in fact she is downright despicable on many levels. But crap, she's actually talking against Trump on two issues now.

But, honestly, I doubt her sincerity on the tariffs issue. It's most likely that she's concerned that the businesses that have been stuffing her pockets for years won't stuff her pockets anymore.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

I think that unlike some others in the maga leadership, she was a true believer. She believed in all the most dubious deep state conspiracy theories. She thought this movement was about purging deep state corruption, and replacing it with some more meritocratic system. A big old dose of racism in there but with her rationalizing it with convenient conspiracy theories.

Now she's faced with more blatant objective evidence of conspiracies. So she gets turned a bit by the betrayal.

Over a long enough time span, I think MTG is doomed to always, eventually turn against whomever is ostensibly "in charge". She'll go for conspiracy theories and of course the people in charge are to blame.

She's not the worst person I know. She's in the top ten, but not the worst.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 26 points 1 week ago (2 children)

There is no harsher enemy than a disappointed lover. MTG and GOP will be a seriously messy divorce, and I'm keeping the popcorn machine on standby. This is going to be FUN.

[–] joker125@lemmy.world 26 points 1 week ago

I live in her district. I call her office every day pushing the Epstein files. I’m doing my part.

Man she really didn't realize he was like this huh? She was just here for racism not the fascism, what a fool

[–] blave@lemmy.world 24 points 1 week ago (3 children)

What the hell is even happening now?

[–] Goretantath@lemmy.world 24 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Getting a head start on her bid for power since dump is dying.

[–] blave@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Maybe, but I don’t think she is either intelligent enough or disciplined enough to make such a Machiavellian long-term plan. She seems driven by immediate self interests.

What person with a brain is whispering good things to say to MTG? Keep it up, maybe she learns something.

[–] LittleBorat3@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Lol what has happened, is she off her meds and seeing clearly wtf

[–] VindictiveJudge@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago

She's a Qanon die-hard first, Trump supporter second. A portion of the Qanon faction has started to break with Trump over the Epstein stuff.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

MTG entered office as a 'the establishment is corrupt, all the conspiracy theories are real' under Biden.

Now that 'her team' has won, now the establishment is all corrupt and there's tons of actual conspiracies... So in a way, she's actually shockingly consistent..

[–] 3abas@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

She actually got exposed to the horrors of her government on Instagram and began questioning a lifetime of brainwashing. She's not exactly and intellectual leftist, but a big crack was formed.

This is why the US bought TikTok, to eliminate access to non US propaganda.

When the four horseman of the apocalypse show up and see Marjorie Taylor they check their notes.

"Wait was one of us supposed to be off today? No, ok but how does this make sense then?

points at MTG

the other horsemen shrug in response

"You know what, nevermind whatever Ken you take the day off then."

Trump will reap what he's sown by having not picked her for a cushy cabinet position. She loved him, dammit!

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago (5 children)

Like the Pod guys said - "welcome to the resistance". LOL. Not that I think she has really come around to complete sanity, but if she's come to reason on a few issues - fuck it, I'll take it.

We just need a whole lot more of people like her to come around on a few issues like this. I hope the seeds shes planting bloom by the millions....

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Nah, she is just pushing back because she isn't personally benefitting and doesn't want to be dragged down by Epstein and other landmines underneath the white house.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

I'd say that's likely to be true, but, still....I'll take it.

Well someone in MAGA world finally has the balls to call a spade a spade. It appears she doesn't fear Trump's reprisals and retributions, knowing full well what a thin-skinned insecure tiny hand man he is.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Although, if she hasn't already, she would be advised to step up her security, by a lot. Taco might not do something directly, but stochastic terrorism doesn't need him to do anything directly.

In addition, even if he doesn't employ a bunch of rhetoric pointed at her, we all know how deranged that base is, and how much they demand unquestioning fealty to donnie dumbass. A whole lot of them are armed to the teeth, in need of mental care, and don't need much of a rationale to get violent. Her being a woman only adds to the problem...

This is the problem with social media. Everyone is trying to get worthless internet points by riffing on the popular "The worst person you know...." meme. Meanwhile, no one is talking about the actual robbery that happened in plain sight just a few days ago that she is talking about.

The Crypto flash crash of October 10th was nothing short of out in the open corruption that vaporised billions of dollars in seconds. A crypto bro, Konstantin Galish killed himself after losing tens of millions that didnt actually belong to him. And all of it was triggered by well timed tweets by the paedo and chef, Donald Drumpf.

Heres a video on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23ddxotpMZM

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago

There is nothing so wonderful to watch but a messy divorce between MTG and GOP. No punch that hits is wasted.

Keep the popcorn machine on standby, it's going to be entertaining.
