Americans are completely getting ridden into the ground by this orange clown.

What a joke of a country it's become .... a joke with nuclear weapons and cheese burgers. Historians will definitely write off this chapter of history as to how 'not to run a country' as well as 'how a citizenry can be so stupid and complacent'.

If only their constitution had specific clauses that allowed them to take up arms against despots trying to upend democracy...

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah, it doesn't though. The second amendment says nothing like that. It says militias can have weapons to defend the state from enemies. It does not say citizens can fight tyrants controlling the state, despite what a lot of media would lead you to believe.

It's really short. Read it, and read it critically. Don't try to read what you've already been told.

Some of our founders wrote and spoke about fighting tyrants, but there's not like a constitutional protection for it or anything like that.

[–] Dragomus@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I also suspect the meaning of a regulated militia never was meant to be just a citizen...

But wishful reading/thinking changes a lot, there are other documents that suffer from it.

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago

Yeah, absolutely. It specifically says "a well regulated militia." It meant militias could keep armories of weapons for their members to use. It didn't mean every random person would have one at their house. If they meant citizens being armed they would have written that.

If you guys ever get your country back, one of the first things you should do is demolish anything built under this clown.

[–] SarcasticMan@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago

I think we should keep it and name them all "Hunter Biden Presents (whatever trump named it)"

[–] Manifish_Destiny@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

Hang them from it honestly. This is the most unamerican bullshit I've seen in my goddamned life.

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

It won't get built, theyll spend tons of discretionary funding on planning and reviews to enrich their friends then say it's too expensive once they actually have to choose shit.

[–] CosmoNova@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Big beautiful buildings unfortunately work phenomenally to leave your mark in history. I doubt anyone will tear down anything this administration built any time soon. They‘re more likely to become landmarks while everyone tries to forget who built them.

Wait, you think that monstrous carbuncle is beautiful? Trump's architectural esthetic is even less refined than his dress sense.

[–] Mirshe@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yup. Look at the Palace of the People in Romania. Buildings are expensive to demolish properly, expensive to put up, so it's easier to just leave them up if they are or can be made to fit a purpose.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

or can be made to fit a purpose

A defenstration center for fascists?

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

Defenestration? In this economy? Windows are to expensive to waste on Fascists. Let's use something more environmentally and economically friendly and reusable.

[–] cmbabul@slrpnk.net 5 points 2 days ago

If I’m still alive by that time I will volunteer as tribute to destroy it

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 6 points 2 days ago

you want to demolish the crack de trumpass!

[–] etherphon@midwest.social 51 points 2 days ago (1 children)

"In 1902, they were going to put a statue of Robert E. Lee up. Would have been okay with me," Trump said. "A lot of people wouldn't have liked it, would have been okay with me. It would have been okay with a lot of the people in this room, but they didn’t do that."

Go fuck yourself with a soldering iron.

[–] KraeuterRoy@feddit.org 12 points 1 day ago

Quick! Someone petition a statue for Obama. A lot of people would probably like that...

[–] x00z@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago

Look at the little fella playing with his toys. That's pure gold.

[–] CriticalThought@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago

“What is this, an arch for ants?”

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 67 points 2 days ago (3 children)

What a monumental disgrace to have this clown in charge for the 250th anniversary

Capitalism personified

Quarter-millennium crisis

[–] Mechaguana@programming.dev 24 points 2 days ago

Man the libs are getting so owned rn omg /s

I wonder how far americans who vote for theses kinds of candidates can go with this. How poor or sick or dead do you have to be to start realizing the consequences of your own actions?

It's fascinating really.

[–] saltesc@lemmy.world 22 points 2 days ago (3 children)

As for what would be at the top of the arch, Trump said it would be a gilded "Lady Liberty."

"That's Lady Liberty. Did you ever hear of Lady Liberty?" Trump said.

🤦

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You know for a fact that the Trump Lady Liberty will look a lot sexier than the old one. She’ll look like a possibly trafficked Eastern European “fashion model” and leave little to the imagination. Which will trigger some liberals and radical leftists, but Trump’s fine with that.

[–] _stranger_@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

I fully expect him to actually bolt tits onto the statue. Over the robe.

[–] Rudee@lemmy.ml 12 points 2 days ago

No, I haven't heard of Lady Liberty. Is there perhaps a poem illustrating the message behind it that I could read, Mr Trump?

On an unrelated note, congratulations on all the deportations!

[–] Dragomus@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I suspect he sneakily considers putting her on all fours...

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Let him build it and then tear it down like the Berlin wall!

FUCK THIS GUY

[–] notsure@fedia.io 24 points 2 days ago

...may i get off the planet, now?..

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

So, when do his handlers pull the plug on letting him speak in public? They know how bad off he is and have got to be shitting bricks.

Dementia patients can go for years. I cannot imagine the plans behind the scenes. They know once he's gone the whole cult collapses. Every shit thing he's done will be blamed on Vance. Then what?

[–] tomi000@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

You kidding? >40% of the population is still backing him, thats more than Hitler when he was at the peak of his popularity. Dictatorships work without consent.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 18 points 2 days ago

It's very Las Vegas Albert Speer.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

When will he ask Speer to build "Die große Halle des Volkes" for him?

[–] abbiistabbii@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Was gonna say. Look up the ballroom plans he has.

“I'm McTrump's. They got the Golden Arches, mine is the Golden Arch. They got the Big Mac, I got the Tiny Mushroom Mac.”

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Dead de trump instead please.

[–] hellfire103@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I'm sorry, what in the goddamn fuck‽

(Those photos look fake as hell, but the story might be true)

[–] x00z@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Trump playing with toys? These might be the only real pictures there are of him.
