I mean, in a certain other furniture store, they put up items for viewing and then nearby there's boxes of the item, which is what you're supposed to take...

[-] ryathal@sh.itjust.works 16 points 5 months ago

Looks like a similar case here. Most dishware is sold in sets, so it's just floor models to show the options.

[-] MacedWindow@lemmy.world 64 points 5 months ago

Wow I wonder how many people misread the sign and accidently shoplift

[-] Tudsamfa@lemmy.world 59 points 5 months ago

You want it? It's yours my friend, as long as you have enough rubies.

[-] Tudsamfa@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago

Sorry NorthWestWind, I can't give credit.

Come back when you're a little ...mmmmmhhhhh richer!

[-] LEONHART@slrpnk.net 56 points 5 months ago

"Sweet deal."

[-] itsgroundhogdayagain@lemmy.ml 35 points 5 months ago

If it's mine then I don't have to pay for it

[-] ShepherdPie@midwest.social 18 points 5 months ago

It'd be mildly amusing to walk to the front and demand they tell you why they have all your stuff for sale on their shelves.

[-] lolcatnip@reddthat.com 1 points 5 months ago

Last time I did that they threatened to call the cops.

A sign that appears to explain how shopping works

Shopping involves payment and here they clearly say I can just take it, it's mine. I need to go to the checkout so they can track what they give away. If it's too heavy, someone from the store will help me carry it.

[-] lolcatnip@reddthat.com 6 points 5 months ago

The sales associate will explain money to you.

[-] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 31 points 5 months ago

I would leave immediately and remain offended permanently.

[-] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 42 points 5 months ago

I would at least consider going to a cashier and saying "I love this, it is mine." Maybe making that joke to anyone I'm with.

Realistically though, I would not follow through and not do anything.

As a person who has worked retail, thank you for your restraint. Even if it's born of shyness. I will be delighted to ring you up with a smile and the bare minimum of talk.

[-] brbposting@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 months ago

Ring me up please!

Oh, it didn’t scan? iT mUsT bE fReE tHeN

"Oh sorry, if it's not in the system I have to take them all back into the Back Room. They should get priced and be back on the shelf by tomorrow or the next day."

A blood feud begins

[-] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 23 points 5 months ago

Oooooh. Guys, I'm so embarrassed... I've been paying for stuff at the front.

[-] shasta@lemm.ee 2 points 5 months ago

That's where the poors pay for things

[-] Sotuanduso@lemm.ee 23 points 5 months ago

Any item, eh? Take the sign.

[-] s_s@lemm.ee 15 points 5 months ago

Algorithms work in real life, too.

This is just standard enshitification.

When you work any sort of sales job, they will teach you a key point is "asking for the sale"--this is just a sign doing that job.

"Carls Jr finds you to be a terrible mother!"

[-] magnetosphere@fedia.io 12 points 5 months ago

STOP BROWSING AND GIVE US MONEY, GODDAMMIT

[-] erp@lemmy.world 12 points 5 months ago

I loved your mom, yet she was not mine. I wanted to take that hot item and check her out. I even asked an associate for assistance, yet she was still not mine. C’est la vie.

So I headed to the home improvement section and found contentment with a metallurgically deficient tool.

[-] intensely_human@lemm.ee 2 points 5 months ago

Husky eh? Never again

[-] MrGerrit@feddit.nl 10 points 5 months ago

Instructions unclear, have started to overthrow the government.

[-] brbposting@sh.itjust.works 8 points 5 months ago

This changes everything

[-] unreasonabro@lemmy.world 7 points 5 months ago

Is that Moss in Toronto? Or no, not Moss, the place next to it.

Kinda funny, posting that instruction makes you think of the alternative (just stuffing it in your purse or whatever) as much out of annoyance as anything... seems counterproductive

[-] niktemadur@lemmy.world -1 points 5 months ago

Doubtful, if it was, the sign would go:

Take Any Item To Checkout Or Ask An Associate For Assistance, Eh?

[-] unreasonabro@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

RACISM AGAINST CANADIANS, SO THAT'S HOW IT IS, EH?

just, like, take off, ok, eh? Hoser

[-] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 7 points 5 months ago

They thought the Amazon shop take it and leave model was going to catch on and got worried I guess

[-] setsneedtofeed@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago

Awww, $20, I wanted a ceramic bowl.

[-] intensely_human@lemm.ee 3 points 5 months ago

With $20 you can get many ceramic bowls

[-] darkdemize@sh.itjust.works 1 points 5 months ago

Explain how.

[-] setsneedtofeed@lemmy.world 1 points 5 months ago

Explain how.

This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.

This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?

Just post some stuff and don't spam.
