Do we not credit artists here?
This is from Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal by Zach Weinersmith
The longest-living cat ever verified was Creme Puff, a mixed tabby domestic cat who lived for 38 years and 3 days. Flossie, a cat born in 1995, is the current verified oldest living cat at 28 years old (as of June 2024).
Damn.
my cat's about to turn 16 and i dread the day he doesn't make it to being the next longest living cat.
Is there a c/imSorryJohn ?
It needs more content. The last post was 9 months ago.
I'll see what I can come up with. Maybe I'll post something.
Lemmy is littered with dead communities that were copied over from reddit a year ago or so.
I guess Jon dyes his roots.
So you're saying that John Dyes in the Ends?
Everybody Dyes in the Ends.
Seriously. :(
My cat is roughly 13 but I'm just lying to myself and saying she's immortal! She's been literally my only company for over a decade so when the inevitable happens it's definitely not going to be a fun time...
I call it The Price of Love.
I just realised that we are more worried about mortality of our loved ones than our own.
Makes sense. We won't be upset after we die.
Sometimes I remember that my cats won't be with me forever and I cry and cry and wipe my snotty face in their fur and yet they still love me. I've long decided a long time ago that I'm saving one of my cats ashes to mix with mine so we can be together again after I die. She's my soulmate.
In Jon's defense, HE doesn't appear to have aged, so why would he expect Garfield to?
Is there a dog skeleton around somewhere as well?
It's in the basement along the the skeletal remains of Lyman.
That's fucked up, Jon!
It's also perfectly possible Jon has acquired a new cat to replace the original, while keeping the name.
It's a bit weird, but I think it's a very Jon thing to do
I had a cat name ~~Snowball~~ Garfield, she died! She died!
Lyman said he was sleeping. He lied! He lied!
Not sure why SMBC keeps getting posted with the credit cut off: https://www.smbc-comics.com/comic/garfield
Especially when it's outside Zach's usual style. I read SMBC and I didn't recognize this as one of his.
🫡 thank you for posting the source
On another note Garfield as a comic strip needs to be retired. Every joke that can be done has been done. Let Garfield die already...
I don't think Garfield is a strip aimed at people who value originality.
It literally isn't. Jim Davis created it specifically to be predictable and safe, appealing to as wide an audience as possible. I don't fault him for it - it was a very successful tactic, and I liked it as a kid. But creative or groundbreaking art it ain't.
That said, it did spawn Garfield: His 9 Lives, which was anything but predicable and safe.
I have this book and Jesus Fuck that story is nightmare fuel.
Turns out I'm Sorry John was already official a decade before the internet!
Garfield die
Hahahaha!
Y'all have heard of r/imsorryjhon now get ready for c/imsorrygarfeild
I was not prepared to deal with this level of grief today...
TFW !greentext@sh.itjust.works is more uplifting/wholesome than !comicstrips@lemmy.world! Hahaha
It's not.
It's just reposting 4chan stuff. That post is fine, but look over the community and you'll find a lot of punching down and the odd dog whistle post.
Garfield may be dead, but he shall return.
This is sticking in my head much more than is comfortable. Fuck.
Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
